I had always wanted to learn how to play guitar ever since I could remember. I was a late starter- 23- before I finally decided to really give it an honest try. Andy convinced me at the very beginning that it's never too late to start and his students were of all ages- children to adult, so I had nothing to worry about. His continuous encouragement was one of the reasons I stuck through the harder beginning lessons when I was struggling. He was extremely patient and would make sure to keep the classes entertaining and upbeat, so that even learning the basics was fun. It's easy to get the "beginner's blues" and quit early if you don't catch on right away, but he pushed me through it until I got the hang of it- and had me laughing the whole way. As I began to improve and could start to experiment more, Andy was great about changing the curriculum to meet my wants and needs. He always made sure to make me practice the basics of course, but we made sure to balance it with songs and music that I personally loved and wanted to play. I would choose the 'extra' books to bring in and often even brought in sheet music of popular songs. If the song was too complicated for my musical level, he would find a way to make it work and break it down for me to learn. Overall, Andy was the best music teacher I've ever had and I've played a variety of instruments over the years. His positive attitude and genuine love of music makes the experience that much better. I would highly recommend him for anyone in any range because he's very good at what he does. If you want to learn how to play guitar, he'll make it happen.

My teenage son has been Andrew's guitar student for many years now. Andrew is an outstanding teacher, mentor, and professional musician. He is deeply knowlegable in all aspects of music and musical theory as well as skilled in playing several musical instruments. Andrew is a patient, caring, teacher who nurtures musical talent in a format that is very individualized for each student. He also encourages and facilitates parent involvement in the student's musical training if parents wish to be an active participant in the lessons. Andrew also has extensive experience teaching music to students with special needs. My son, who is autistic, blossomed musically under Andrew's mentorship. The musical training not only uncovered a particular gift for music and listening, but also opened up my son's social and intellectual world, and gave him a constructive focus in music. I give my highest recommendation for Andrew as a teacher. Thank you Andrew for all the skills, knowledge, and inspiration you have given my son.

Andrew Dapkin has been my guitar teacher and music mentor for over a year now and i wouldn't have it any other way. When Andrew first started teaching me could barely play, had little sense of tempo, and was rusty on reading formal sheet music, but I have overcome those hurdles since then. Andrew is patient, kind, but also holds the student accountable. If you practice according to your lesson plans and don't give up, you'll feel better about playing.

Talented, patient and kind. Andrew is a true professional and I highly recommend his services. He is teaching me to play the ukulele, an enormous undertaking, and I find his style of teaching to be thoughtful and effective. He makes my goal of playing an instrument feel obtainable. Thanks, Andrew!
