I've only had one lesson with McKinley so far, but the approach was perfect. We focused on music, hearing/listening, scales, and theory as opposed to just working through songs. After that first lesson, my guitar playing is already more purposeful and less just hoping to land somewhere good. I'm looking forward to more lessons and continuing to improve my playing and singing.

Lauren has been an excellent teacher for my 6 year old daughter. She does a great job of providing instruction at the right level- maintaining a good balance of education and fun. My daughter really looks forward to the lesson every week.

Lauren has been instrumental in providing instant feedback and confidence. I'm a late bloomer who just started to learn guitar before COVID and I have been playing and singing live to my mom's memory care unit since Christmas 2022. In a short half hour lesson I get to go over a few songs and get her immediate help with my music! (My primary musical goal is to not sound too bad.) At first, I was having trouble finding the first note to start my songs. After our first lesson I was hooked! She is able to pinpoint what I need to know and give me a drill or technique to master for immediate feedback. Plus she is super cheerful and supportive!

Lauren comes with a great deal of experience. After learning of our objectives Lauren immediately presented us with recommendations, specifically auditions for the New York City High Schools. She is knowledgeable about the process and has guided my daughter in her decision-making and rehearsals. Additionally, she has helped my 12-year-old daughter see that singing is an art that like anything, she needs to practice. My daughter recently obtained a position in the city-wide chorus while working with Lauren. My daughter always looks forward to their sessions and enjoys her time spent with Lauren. I took a chance procuring a coach on the internet, Lauren has turned out to be a terrific selection.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free 15 minute consultation to see if we are a good fit. We chat about what your goals are and I get to hear you vocalize and sing whatever song you would like to sing. Then we book your first official lesson!
