Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Serenity was created to promote and encourage a supportive community of like-minded people who are seeking positive change in their lives while always respecting the needs of each individual. Our intention is to provide a safe, loving, and intuitive practice based on the belief that yoga is for everyone including the young, old, stiff, and flexible, for the novice, as well as the advanced practitioner. This ancient science of breath, movement, and self-awareness will improve the quality of life of anyone who chooses to experience it. Yoga practices are designed and intended to promote self-knowing, or the deepening of consciousness about who we are in relation to ourselves and the outside world. This allows us to live up to our full potential as a human being. By repeatedly connecting to ourselves via the body, breath, and mind, we are practicing Yoga. We discover little by little, or in flashes of perception, who we really are. Yoga is firstly for individual growth, but through individual growth, society, and community develop. - B.K.S. Iyengar Our main focus at Serenity is Power Vinyasa Flow. The word Vinyasa means breath-synchronized movement. We will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale, like a dance or moving meditation. Yoga flow, or "vinyasa" yoga, connects each pose or asana to the next, dynamically linking movement with breath while creating heat and stamina in the body. The length of each inhale and exhale typically determines the length of time held in each posture. This technique is often referred to as "flow" because of the fluid way that the poses run together, much like a tightly choreographed dance. Two examples of common flow sequences include the simple cat-cow stretch, where the spine is arched on the inhale and rounded on the exhale, and the more complex sun salutation, which links plank, chaturanga, and upward facing dog. A series of sun salutations are often used as a warm up at the beginning of many flow sessions. One of the greatest appeals of cultivating a flow yoga practice comes from the diversity of poses it offers. No flow sequence is ever exactly the same, leaving a lot of room for the experience and personality of the teacher to shine through. While most of our classes are heated to around 80-85 degrees we do have some classes that are not heated. Please review our class description page. Our Slow Flow classes are designed for beginners and all levels. This class is based on the Hatha tradition and we will focus on giving you the tools you will need to go onto any one of our other classes. Focus on alignment, breath awareness and become one with mind, body, and spirit.
