In February 2015 we met with Suzanne and Jay at their warehouse in Deerfield Beach to discuss the services they offer. They agreed on our budget of just under $18,000. Included in that price, was décor, florals, tables, chivari chairs, food & beverages, DJ, service for roughly 120 guests and the venue. We paid a deposit of $2,700. We had a second meeting with Suzanne at her warehouse again in March 2015, where we went over the décor, tables, chivari chairs, and adding 30 additional guests. That same evening we provided her with another $1,000 payment. The next morning I received an updated invoice increasing the total cost to just under $28,000! When I called questioning the increase in price, they said the chivari chairs were now $7.50 per chair (they were included originally), rates increased for the staff, etc. They tried to bring the price down to just over $20,000. Overall, we just felt uncomfortable using the services with they way they changed pricing. We met with them for a third time thinking we could maybe just use them for the florals and DJ. Suzanne seemed a bit upset and said she didn’t feel comfortable with doing that. We called, emailed, text, and even sent a certified letter for a reimbursement of our money minus 10% for their time. Not once did we ever get a response. Not to mention, we never signed a contract with Suzy Q Events. Since we never heard from them, we decided to take them to small claims court. They never showed for court and therefore a judgement was issued in our favor for reimbursement of $3370 plus court costs. We have contacted them again trying to get our money back and have gotten no response. Overall, I recommend never using this company. They agree to your budget and once they receive your initial payment, they increase their prices. They use a bait and switch method. VERY DISHONEST COMPANY!!!! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!
Suzy Q Events's reply
There are several points referenced in the above complaint that are not entirely accurate. I will address each one separately. $3700 DEPOSIT Like every other company that performs event planning services, we require a deposit. Planning an event is a long, arduous process. There are expenses incurred from the beginning and these expenses continue throughout the full life cycle of the project. The deposit is designed to offset SOME of those expenses. As a result, the deposit is non-refundable. Please see your contract terms. FAILURE TO ATTEND COURT HEARING Suzy Q Events was a joint venture that included both my husband and I. We are currently separated. As a result, I personally did not receive the notification of the suit until after the hearing date. I realize that this has nothing to do with the client, but it is important to note that as a result of the fact that I did not attend the court hearing in this matter, that a DEFAULT judgement was entered in favor of the client and was not based at all on the facts of this case. If I had been at the hearing and able to represent the company in court, I am confident that the judge would have upheld the terms of the contract and would have supported our decision to keep the deposit. INCREASES IN COST The increase in the cost was directly related to the request for additional services and additional guests, all of which were clearly defined for the client at the time of renegotiation. There was no clandestine increase in prices as alleged, but simply an increase in the number of guests and nature of the services. UNRESPONSIVE TO REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION All polite and professional requests for additional information were answered within 8 hours. Admittedly, toward the end, the tone of the text messages and voicemails were trending toward confrontational and abusive. These texts and voicemails were NOT answered. We only respond if the communication is civil. SUMMARY Suzy Q Events does everything in our power to ensure that your event goes smoothly - both the planning and the implementation - but we cannot provide our services at a fixed price when the parameters of the event change. Additional guests and additional services result in additional costs. I'm truly sorry that you had this experience, but hopefully my response has given you something to think about and this situation can be used in the future to modify your behavior and expectations in such a way to avoid future disappointments. I sincerely hope that you have a long, successful and above all, happy marriage. Suzy Q Events

WORST decision I EVER made.. It was so bad I had to threaten to take this woman to court BEFORE my wedding date. After booking Suzy to do my wedding decor, Dj and photos she refused to give me ANY Info about on my photographer. She told me that she was only required to give me his first name..Had she told me that before I booked her I wouldn't have hired her... After meeting with Suzy to see a mockup of my wedding tables I wanted to fired her on the spot.. The tables looked awful.. Looked like something a child put together. When I told her I wasn't please and wanted to hire a professional florist instead, she refused to take the decor package off my bill. I had to threaten to take her to court... This woman waited till the last minute to do everything for me. i found out 30 days before my wedding that she didn't have a DJ or photographer booked for me.. I'm assuming that's the reason why she refused to provide me with information... After being confronted by my wedding planner Suzy told me who my photographer was 3 days before my wedding. This woman blocked me from contacting her after I complained about her not giving me information about my wedding.. She blocked me then bad talked me to my own wedding planner... Two weeks before my wedding (October 11th, 2015) my wedding planner called Suzy to confirm everything..we found out that Suzy had the wrong date written down in her calender for my wedding. Talk about being pissed. I haven't even been married a week & I found out Suzy posted my wedding tables decor on her Facebook page.. instead of giving credit to the woman that did the work she posted it on her page without saying a word.. This woman is extremely unprofessional and rude... Only cared about my money...How dare you take my money and block me from contacting you over a complaint.. I wish I was able to share pics of the terrible looking tables she wanted to provide me for my wedding... anywho, to make a long honest review short, I would NEVER in my life hire this woman again.. Even if she offered her terrible service for free I would turn it down in a heartbeat... I'm disgusted with myself for hiring Suzy Q.. Don't let the pics on her website fool you bc the same pics are on other websites..I'm highly upset that Suzy took pictures that my florist did & posted them on her Facebook page without giving her credit for doing the work..... I don't appreciate it AT ALL.. Would I hire Suzy again? HELL NO....
Suzy Q Events's reply
Firstly let me say that if anyone is curious and has any questions about any of the situations mentioned I would be happy to discuss at length how Suzy Q works and how we did and continue to try to work with every client even when the client makes it needlessly uncomfortable. There are ALWAYS Three sides to every tale! Next I would like to say that this ex client has smeared Suzy Q's reputation and posted the same review maliciously on every website that we advertise on! I have not responded up until now because I did not want to embarrass her or disrespect the event industry but, after her unreasonable recollection of her experience with us I could NOT stay quiet any longer. I would like to address each of Tanya's complaints Even her wedding planner tried to give her her money back at the onset of working with her -because she could already see that Tanya was going to be unhappy no matter what... Tanya hysterically cried and begged the planner not to let her go..But her impatience, immaturity and immediate threat of court, controlled every aspect of working with her. It was perhaps one of the most uncomfortable situations in my event career which spans 18 years. So, to address your issues: I will list them below and then respond: Clients complaint: After booking Suzy to do my wedding decor, DJ and photos she refused to give me ANY Info about on my photographer. She told me that she was only required to give me his first name..Had she told me that before I booked her I wouldn't have hired her. Suzy Q's response: Tanya is a nationwide truck driver so, her time is limited . Tanya booked several of her event services with us after much discussion. Once she was comfortable she booked her package and we even arranged for her to have a payment plan so that it would be easier for her to afford the wedding of her dreams. She gushed how convenient it was. Even before her booking our services I advised her to check out a few venues that we worked with, that would meet her needs. Of which she apparently does not remember. (I encourage my clients to speak to the photographers they hire so we can all get on the same page and everyones expectations are met. ) After the first few times we spoke and then after her Floral Mock up day she became increasingly rude and near impossible to deal with- Hence the many conversations I had with a few of her wedding professionals she was working with. IN FACT, HER WEDDING PLANNER , THE VERY SAME ONE THAT TRIED TO GIVE HER HER MONEY BACK HAD TO BE HOSPITALIZED FOR BASICALLY A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN -DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF STRESS CAUSED BY TANYAS ERRATIC BEHAVIOR. My staff was afraid of her response to even simple questions because she was SO RUDE and erratic. When she booked her package with us she raved about how easy it was that she could reserve all of her professionals through one company. She had already hired the photographer through our company and she was excited. But then she started saying "well I don't know this person- I want to go to his website." I responded , he is a Suzy Q photographer he works for us. We provided samples of his work. That was not satisfactory and then she continued to accuse and insult me, my company and basically anything else she could say. It was amazing and sad to watch. I got the feeling she was trying to complain because she wanted to hire another photographer that tickled her fancy like she did with the florals. At that point , I let her know that because of the way that she continued to speak to me and behave that we would both be more comfortable allowing the wedding planner to be the liaison for all of her details from then out. The planner would communicate any and all additional wishes to us in the days leading up to her day. I thought we could create a peaceful creative environment with that solution. In my mind this was the only way to calm her down, make her comfortable and assured that she was indeed taken care of, a priority to us, and that we were committed to her satisfaction. One or our main goals in dealing with our clients is to take the stress OUT of planning- Because of my 18 years of event experience I usually have an idea, an answer or solution to most situations. Sadly some folks are only happy when they are making others miserable. Consumer Complaint:The tables looked awful.. Looked like something a child put together. When I told her I wasn't please and wanted to hire a professional florist instead, she refused to take the decor package off my bill. I had to threaten to take her to court... Suzy Q's response:Months before her day we provided a mock up in our showroom for Tanya and her husband. We did it exactly like the pictures that she provided to us on the Pinterest board we created for her of what she wanted for her concept centerpieces. We matched her flowers colors EXACTLY TO her bridesmaids dress colors per her request. Once again she gushed over how much she LOVED THEM- In front of :my assistant and two other office team members. I remember her saying : "Oh My God it is absolutely perfect. I would not change a thing! Thank You!" When we do a design and mockup floral consultation for our clients that is when we all put our heads together to make sure we are on the same path and vision of what the client wants. That is the time when we work together to perfect the floral package. At the end of our consultation she was thrilled and we were all in agreement. Thats why I thought it was so odd when she contacted me a few days later and said she wasn't happy and wanted her money back. She then admitted that she had hired another florist. Both the planner and I continued to be watch on helplessly at how she hired duplicate people to do the same thing for her at her whim. Then expected everyone else to refund her money or be fine with letting her out of any contracts and deposits At that point I said "Well, You were so happy I don't understand why your sudden unhappiness with our floral service-you are in an agreement with us , so no I am not okay with you canceling the service. (Please understand the reason that there is an agreement between a client and company is so that both parties are protected) This is all we do for a living so its not okay to be in contract only to have the client deny it is there. At that point she escalated the situation and started screaming so much on the phone that it was impossible for me to continue speaking with her -I immediately handed her over to a team member who was aware of the situation and great at bringing the peace. He tried to talk reasonably with her to but she continued to threaten slamming us on the internet and court if we did not do what she wanted. When this client started swearing , yelling, threatening to take us to court and not being at all reasonable but just plain SCARY- My belief is that she found someone cheaper - not that we were expensive, but that she just wanted to not honor her contract with us. She behaved like a spoiled child throwing herself on the ground until she got what she wanted. At that point he agreed that we would take off her floral package of about $1500- off of the custom package that we created for her. Even though she agreed to it and even though we had already spent time on concept and creation. Customer complaint: I found out 30 days before my wedding that she didn't have a DJ or photographer booked for me.. I'm assuming that's the reason why she refused to provide me with information... Suzy Q response: We in fact had a DJ and photographer reserved for her date. During one of our conversations she had mentioned how much she liked another DJ she had met with- I asked who he was? She told me and he was actually someone that worked for Suzy Q often. I let her know that I would see if he could do her wedding at no additional charge to her and again she appeared THRILLED.She knew who he was and already had his contact info! In fact she had actually met with this DJ and had NOT booked his service! Once again she denies or does not remember that I arranged and went above and beyond her expectations to reserve his service for her but insisted that indeed SHE was the one that got the DJ because she had already spoken to him several times. It is common procedure for our professionals to reach out about 30 days (even two weeks before) any event to answer any client questions and discuss music choices, special requests, photo poses , and the event timeline. Customer Complaint:Two weeks before my wedding (October 11th, 2015) my wedding planner called Suzy to confirm everything..we found out that Suzy had the wrong date written down in her calender for my wedding. Suzy Q's response: I was mobile at the time of the call from the planner and I explained I did not have Tanya's folder in front of me. But that I couldn't recall the date and did not want to give inaccurate information about the date . I said I would call and confirm all of the details once I got back to the office. Our conversation was relayed to Tanya and then she tried to interpret it to mean I didn't know her date.' Customer Complaint: I haven't even been married a week & I found out Suzy posted my wedding tables decor on her Facebook page.. instead of giving credit to the woman that did the work she posted it on her page without saying a word. Suzy Q's response: We actually posted pictures of our work - We created a beautiful pipe and drape, South Beach Style custom furniture Gazebo area. It was beautiful so we took some pictures. Some of the tables with floral arrangements on them were in front of parts of the gazebo area . But she is implying that we are somehow trying to take credit for another florist's work. In fact we work with the best floral professionals in the industry on a regular basis. We value our relationship and our reputation, so it doesn't b

We used SuzyQ events for a photobooth rental. Suzanne was very professional and well organized. This was a great addition to our Hollywood themed Halloween party. I would definitely use her services again!

Suzy Q was fantastic. The room looked amazing. The food was delicious. The service was outstanding. We planned far enough in advance for me to take advantage of their option to make payments towards the balance which enabled me to give my daughter the wedding she deserved. It was a spectacular day. Thank you so much..........!!!!!!!!!!!
