I hired Jobert to replace my sliding bypass closet doors with French open doors. When he was here, I also asked if he could fix the pavers in our driveway that had become dislodged and scattered. He was able to do both projects in one day and we're happy with his work. He is prompt, friendly and professional.

Hired him to remove a pool handrail that was embedded in concrete. He was over within the hour and had it out within a few minutes. he left the holes clean and no sharp edges, just as I had asked. He's a general handyman and can do many different jobs, so I'll definitely be hiring him again when I've compiled a list of little repairs that need doing around the house. Good guy.

Project X Concrete Solutions transformed my backyard into a private retreat. I had a wooden deck installed a few years ago and I had to replace it several times, if you have a wooden deck in South Fla you could understand my frustration. Project X removed the deck and built a retaining wall and applied a 4 inch thick concrete slab across the top, not to mention the transformation to my patio, which was concrete and now a decorative concrete wood look finish. The best investment I ever made to my backyard. The professionalism and knowledge of the staff were phenomenal. I would highly recommend this company for any concrete work.

Domingo came to my place in May 2014 to fix some plumbing. We were under house renovation and he ended up fixing other things as well: fixed a bathroom vanity, installed a microwave, moved an electrical outlet, installed some shower heads, installed mirrors, patched a wall, installed a few bathroom titles, installed window shades, and cleaned and sealed driveway and patio floors. If you are Looking for someone that knows how to do more than one thing -- Domingo is your guy. He was knowledgable, honest, easy to communicate with and friendly. I highly recommend him! I also believe he knows how to install floors!

I cannot say enough good things about this company. Hector has three qualities you do not find in South Florida- he returns your calls, he shows up, and the quality of his work is excellent. I have a stamped concrete driveway that was damaged he removed the damaged portion and blended in the new driveway keeping the same pattern.

Alex, has performed great repairs to my pool spa. There was a leak coming from the inside of the spa wall. He explained what was required to repair the weak and presented a reasonable cost contract. The following had to be done: Tile Demo, bench fracture demo, bench rebar reconfiguration, bench structural framing and repouring of concrete, bench coping paver reinstallation (the existing bricks were carefully removed and reused, saving us the cost of buying new bricks), installed new tile and a quartz cascade slab which enabled the water to flow from the spa to the pool like a water fall. The pool was then acid washed and filled with water. The workers were polite, perfomed their jobs well and left the area clean. Alex is personable, polite, professional and well knowledgeable of pool repair and maintenance. We recommend him to anyone in need of pool services. We have also request him to proform our weekly pool maintenance. It took him

Onsite Project Solutions turned a house into "our home" for my son and I. All rooms were painted, all new baseboards, trim and interior doors were installed, doors were relocated, new built in closet systems installed and the BEST part is my new whole home concrete floor that reminds me of the beach! That was all completed Spring of 2015 and now they are back to create a very modern, custom concrete bathroom!

Hugo first worked for me on a bamboo floor installation. I continued to hire him for different jobs because of his skills and passion. He was able to accomplish specific details that I want with good craftsmanship on a timely manner. He did things the right way to guarantee customer satisfaction; for example, grinding concrete floor before installation, and using the right products for specific jobs.

It was a pleasure working with Shaun and his crew. They were very professional and accommodating with my requests. They not only remodeled my master bathroom, but also installed tile in my master bedroom, and other various projects around the house (exterior house painting, gutters, plumbing work, closet installation). As part of the bathroom remodel, they took out a sliding glass door that was inside the shower stall and closed it up with a concrete wall and added a window. Shaun is very knowledgeable and is excellent at finding solutions to questions that may arise during the job. His pricing is very fair, and the work that he does is excellent. I felt very comfortable with Shaun and his crew. They are trustworthy, dedicated, and have great attention to detail. I am very happy with the work done to my house. I will definitely call Shaun again for future projects.

Patrick Forshee has helped our family with numerous projects at both our business and our home. The improvements he and his company have helped us with include framing, concrete work, window installation, polished concrete flooring, painting, cabinetry installation, plywood backing in walls, drywall finishing, and stucco work. He has a large crew of seasoned employees that are experienced and knowledgeable. They work fast and keep the job site clean. Patrick thank you so much for your patience and cooperation. Mark was with me from start to finish on a pretty good sized wood floor installation encompassing a living room, kitchen, dining room and family room. I first met him in the Enduracolor showroom. I told him I was concerned with durability as this was for a recently purchased home for my expanding family and I was concerned my young children would destroy the floors. He directed me towards a floor that met my needs and away from the softer products. When the installation began Mark was a frequent presence at the job site. I was initially concerned as there was a problem with my floor as soon as the demolition of the old tiles was completed. The concrete under my tiles was not level at all. Mark demonstrated this with a straight-edge. What was not so visible to the naked eye was quite conspicuous with this straight edge. Mark explained that this should be addressed and it would add a day to the completion of the project. Along with a cost increase which surprisingly turned out to be marginal at best. This was a big project to me and an expensive project for me. But in the end I was very pleased. I think I got exactly what I paid for. I could have skimped on the wood quality and probably been disappointed. It came out beautiful. And has proved to be durable. And Mark's communication kept me confident throughout the process. He was always readily available. I never felt like he was avoiding me like I have with some contractors. Call Mark! He'll explain things to you with patience. He is very easy to talk to. When I thought he was finished he even instructed us how to care for our floor.

Large home 6K square. Used used C&K 4 different times, was extremely satisfied with the work and the reason I kept on calling them back and will continue to do so. 1. Kitchen completely remodeled from floor to higher ceilings. 2. Two downstairs bathrooms remodeled. 3. Roof cleaned and sealed, house painted, pool deck and front driveway painted and sealed. 4. Large master bathroom remodeled switching shower to another location, new fixtures, etc. Was not worried it could not be done. I'm very picky and so is Chris doing the work, one of the reasons we got along. Would I use them again? Heck yes!

George is a very unusual handiman and man-of-many-talents. He SHOWS UP! And he is on time! And he will do what you ask him, and if you are not satisfied - he will redo and correct until you are. He is also creative and has very good ideas for home decorating - a great sense of color and design. George has removed popcorn ceilings, painted, built patios, installed ceiling lighting, installed chair railings, painted garage floors and driveways, built docks - not only for us, but for many friends and neighbors. Always willing to help - going beyond the jobs themselves - and positive, a good listener, and a very hard worker. George does not pretend to be an expert at everything, but he is intelligent and willing to learn what it takes to do jobs he has never done before. It would be very hard, if not impossible, to find anyone with a better attitude and work ethic. He completed all jobs within the time frame he had calculated, and no job is ever done until customers are satisfied.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. When hiring a concrete contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

      • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
      • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
      • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
      • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
      • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
      • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.

      What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time. When hiring a paving contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.
