Particularly here in South Florida, but also nationwide, we live in a bilingual world. Those of us with only one language operate at a disadvantage, both personally and professionally. For this reason and others Ive wanted to learn Spanish for quite some time. But Im well beyond the age where language acquisition comes easily. Moreover, the thought of memorizing vocabulary lists and grammatical rules wasnt particularly appealing to me, and I had a hard time finding classes that didnt interfere with my work commitments until I found Merit International School of Languages. Dr. Garrido worked out a class schedule that worked for me. Classes are small and instruction is personalized. Instead of rote memorization, we have conversations. We talk and we laugh in every single class, and somehow the memorization happens. More and more Im coming to understand when I listen to spoken Spanish, and Ive even been able to speak and to be understood. I look forward to my Spanish lessons theyve become a bright spot in my week. Id highly recommend Merit International School of Languages to anyone looking to learn a new language or to improve their language skills.

I studied English at MERITs school for eight months. I really liked it. Gene and Marta are great and lovely, they have a lot of patience and teach in a way that is easy to understand. I had a lot of difficulties speaking in English before I started to study at MERIT. When I got there my English was poor and I was shy to speak English. Their method helped me to get more confident to listen and speak in English. They helped me to communicate with people in English. My speaking and writing skills improved, and my reading is really better now. I learned a lot of grammar, too. I really enjoyed their special Conversation Class on Saturdays with Gene in small groups. Now I feel more comfortable communicating with people in English. The schools environment is nice. I really recommend MERIT International School of Languages!
