When I hired Jeannette in August 2025 (for a dissolution of marriage, a QDRO, and two Quit Claim deeds), it was primarily based on her strong reviews. She sounded confident and reassuring during our initial conversations, and I felt comfortable moving forward at that time. I am not disputing that other clients have had positive experiences. However, I want future clients, particularly those in counties outside of her home area, to be aware of limitations I experienced. My case was in a SW FL county, and Jeannette is located on the east coast of FL. There were multiple instances where county-specific procedures appeared unfamiliar to her. For example, it took four attempts to successfully complete an e-portal filing with my county. While I understand that clerks sometimes reject filings for technical reasons, the repeated charge/reversal cycles and multiple rejections created early concern about attention to detail. There were also recurring accuracy issues throughout the process. Emails were initially sent to the wrong service address for my ex-spouse, even though the correct address had already been provided. In several documents, my last name was misspelled multiple times. I was asked repeatedly to reconfirm our child custody schedule despite multiple prior communications outlining it. While typos can happen, the frequency was above what I would consider professional work. Additionally, a QDRO was drafted and submitted at an incorrect stage of the proceedings which resulted in court rejection and confusion. Ultimately, my ex-spouse and I waived retirement claims, and the QDRO was never used. The $750 fee for its preparation felt frustrating given that 1). The document was never finalized or administratively implemented, and 2). There were multiple rounds of communication required regarding whether the QDRO amount should be drafted as a flat amount or percentage, adding to the confusion. Regarding financial affidavits, Jeannette advised my ex-spouse and I to complete the short-form. Upon reviewing it myself, I questioned whether it was appropriate given our income. I was reassured by Jeannette that it was correct. However, when I later confirmed directly with the county law manager, I was told that the short-form was NOT appropriate for our situation. This created additional uncertainty about Jeannette’s expertise. Throughout the process, there were instances of her misplacing documents. Several items required repeated submission for filing or storage purposes. The case ultimately concluded after a case law manager within my county reached out directly and guided my ex-spouse and I through final steps specific to my county. Jeannette was unfamiliar with the Final Declaration required by my county, and I’m grateful that the case law manager intervened to complete the process. After the final judgment was entered, Jeannette requested a 5-star review. However, two documents that were part of the original agreement (quit claim deeds for two properties) had not yet been properly completed by Jeanette. When I received the deeds, there were multiple issues. First of all, the formatting spanned 3 pages with large paragraph breaks, increasing page count (and increasing recording fees). Two notaries in my city declined to notarize due to formatting concerns. Second, the property legal descriptions and plat references contained errors that would have caused recording issues. Third, the language used to define grantor vs grantee was incorrect and required rewriting before it could be recorded. (Improper formatting and incorrect legal descriptions in deeds can cause rejection by notaries or county recorders and can create serious title complications.) Although I had paid for preparation, notarization, and filing of these deeds, I ultimately rewrote both documents myself, paid separately for notarization, and recorded them personally (and paid personally) with the county. This was all despite paying her for these services.
