The Sound Reader
Introduction: Hi! My name is Ms. Hayley and I am a certified teacher with 8 years of experience teaching children how to read. I also have experience with one on one tutoring and zoom lessons.
I am trained in Orton-Gillingham methods that I utilize in my approach to learning to read. Each of my students gets individualized goals and lessons that target the foundational reading skills that they are struggling with. I use a multi sensory approach to help maximize engagement and retention in even the youngest of learners. Most students will work on a mix of phonemic awareness, including explicit phonics instruction, handwriting, spelling, and reading comprehension throughout their time with me.
Throughout my years of experience, students generally show 1-3 years of reading growth within a school year.

Ms. Hayley has been a wonderful addition to our child’s life. He was behind upon entering the 1st grade, and she had worked with him to get him caught up. He now has the confidence to try and sound out words on his own, and the joy it brings him when he reads new words is immeasurable.
There was a threat from his school to send him back to repeat Kindergarten. Ms. Hayley has worked with his current teachers to make sure he is able to keep up with his fellow students while also building a strong foundation. She is patient and kind. She has no problems keeping him engaged throughout each session.

Hayley with The Sound Reader was amazing with our son. He went from basically no reading skills to reading simple books within a few months. She focused on building a foundation that he can apply in future classes, and educated us, the parents, on how to continue the lessons without her present. She was patient, organized and knew exactly how to get the most out of our kiddo!

Hayley is so amazing with my children. She’s been working with them for a few months now and I’ve noticed such an improvement in their reading skills. She uses great resources and provides specific goals for each child. Hayley uses assessments to monitor their progress and continually updates me on how they are doing. My son, who suffers with ADHD and Dyslexia, has been struggling to learn how read since he was in Kindergarten (he is currently in 4th grade). When we first started with The Sound Reader, my son was still struggling with letter sounds. He would often confuse the letters u and n, confuse b/d/p, he would pronounce the letter h as “ch”, and he basically couldn’t read at all. We’ve only had about 6 sessions so far, but now he knows all of his letter sounds, able to differentiate between u/n and b/d/p, and can read 1st grade books. My son also now feels proud of himself and confident in his ability to read. I love that I also get notified of his progress along the way. This service has really improved our lives so much and I am forever grateful for it.
