Hired on Thumbtack

Hired on Thumbtack

I needed some repair work done on my fiberglass swimming pool as it was damaged in two or three areas after accidentally being drained by a faulty filter canister lid popping off while I was out of town. The ground water in our area is very high and the pressure on the pool from underneath cracked/ruptured the pool on the floor by the drain and one tear/crack on the side in the corner of the pool. I searched the web looking for someone to do fiberglass repair on swimming pools and came across Thumbtack. I entered the information about my repair needs and within the same day I was contacted by Jason Thebo from “Almost Anything Fiberglass” wanting to bid on my project. He said that due to the description of what I needed repaired he wanted to first come out and look at the damage and then would give me a price quote on what it would cost to repair it. We set up a time for him to come over and the next day he arrived to look at the damage. He examined the situation and then took the time to discuss exactly what was needed for each of the repairs. He was very knowledgeable about what had to be done and gave what I felt was a reasonable price to repair the pool. I decided to hire him and asked that he send me a written estimate. I received the written estimate a few days later. We set a start date and Jason and his partner showed up on the day that was agreed upon to start the project. Jason and his partner did the repairs well, blending the fiberglass and gelcoat into the surrounding areas. During the initial repair process, a few more cracks/ruptures opened up in different areas, as we got a bunch of rain one night. Jason agreed to repair those as well at a very reasonable additional price. He even agreed to come on a Sunday and fix one final crack/tear that showed up after we got more rain. We were constantly fighting the rain as the pool was initially damaged in late June during the rainy/wet season in Florida. We felt we were in a bit of an emergency situation, with the pool being empty and the daily threat of afternoon hard rains, to get the repairs completed and get water back into the pool to take care of the ground water pressure wanting to push up on the pool and damage it more. Jason definitely came to the rescue for us and helped us save the pool from more damage. His communication with me as a customer was excellent as he stayed in daily phone contact letting me know when he would be at the house to work on the pool. He was always available to reach by phone if I had any questions or concerns or needs for each day of the project. I would highly recommend Jason for your fiberglass repair needs, as he is very knowledgeable, skilled in his abilities and comes with many years of experience to work through your repair needs. He was friendly, easy to talk to and finished the job in a timely manner. James

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started in the fiberglass industry building boats in 1991 for a local company. On the side i started doing small side jobs the owner of the company would send me, when things were slow. In no time I was busy with my own customers making custom repairs and parts.
