At our first meeting, he was very prompt, courteous, and professional. We were able to quickly set up a time for him to come out. When it came to the actual job, however, the results were mixed. Our backyard was fantastic, he spread some mulch so it would be evened out and not attract bugs, and he did a good job with the hedges. However, when it came to the front yard, it was the exact opposite. Instead of leaving a tarp (that turned out to have ants on it) in the driveway like I requested, he initially said he threw it over our back fence, only to discover that he set it on our deck behind the house, ants and all. Then, instead of raking fallen leaves in the front yard, he simply blew them out into the street, and ignored the hedges that were on the side of the house. Overall, had he done the front yard as well as he did the back yard, this would be a five-star review and I would certainly keep him. Alas, this is not the case and my search continues.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Think twice before hiring the company that provides the lowest bid on your job. You usually get what you pay for. I've seen companies ruin landscapes by scalping the lawn (cutting the grass way to short) and damaging plants and flower beds by being too aggressive with their blowers.
