Introduction: I have been practicing massage for over 20 years. I believe in using the most firm pressure possible without going beyond a "hurt so good" level. Its all about moving fluids through tissue, some of which lie under other muscles, tissues and organs. The more fluid can be moved through, the better result, and tight muscles restrict blood and lymph flow.
My relaxation therapy skills grew out of learning to address my own needs and stop pain from muscle spasms and degenerated disc joints in my neck, back and in my shoulders. I learned what works for me, and over a long time of practicing; I have become good at helping others discover what works for them too.
Although Inworkedout regularly, at 22 I was stressed out from working a full time career, going to school at night, getting married and buying a house. Additionally, my discs began to compress on nerves in my neck and back causing pain in my head, neck, shoulders and back. Pain causes more pain. I discovered the benefits of Yoga Meditation, diaphragmatic breathing and Massage Therapy. Together it provided me with pain relief through deeper relaxation. I learned and practiced as much as I could. Diaphragmatic breathing and meditation remained an important part of my own wellness plan.
In 2008, I left my career job and took the opportunity to complete the 600 hours of educational requirements for a License to practice Massage Therapy in Pennsylvania. I have been practicing Massage Therapy full time since then. This time has also provided me with an opportunity to focus more and more on my health and wellness, faith, and emotional recovery from abusive and broken relationships.
I spent over a decade on a prayer team for my church, and studied theophostic and healing prayer. Today I enjoy identifying falsity, focusing on truth and helping others in similar situations. I help by praying silently or out loud as clients may wish during therapy sessions.
I have been honored and blessed by the connection that develops in my work as I share my experiences and skills. This sets an atmosphere of openness for growth in self-awareness to explore and identify what may work best for during sessions; and in between them. My greatest satisfaction comes from helping others experience life changing practices and benefits.
