FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The cost of our services depends on the scope of work and requirements for the proposal, along with the need to fill any gaps in your own portfolio. The less work we have to do, the more you save. Also, if we have to bring on more team members to deliver a quality proposal, the cost increases. Prime requires payment in full to commence services for projects less than $5K. If over $5K and under $10K, at our discretion, we may require a 50% deposit and payment in full when final writing or design is rendered. If over $10K, at our discretion, we offer installment plans. Most vendor applications start around $1K depending upon requirements. RFPs are continent upon the level of effort (LOE) and warrant $150-$175/hour negotiable. We also offer monthly retainers for trusted clients who commit to a signed agreement outlining payment terms and expectations. Because we have experience, our rates align with our background, education, level of effort (LOE), and time for services. The hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour. On the other hand, the hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour. We generally charge around $175-$250 per hour depending on the submittal requirements. For smaller grants, we may charge less and we do offer nonprofits steep discounts. In the industry, contingency plans are frowned upon (% payment after an award is won). Many of our clients even pay commissions as overhead costs too. We make no guarantees. Unfortunately, we cannot control the outcome of any submittal (wish we could!). Remember, hiring a professional does not make up for lack of experience. We simply work with you to submit the best package to compliment your strengths. We try to control the controllables. Uncontrollables like acts of God, delivery issues, cancellations by grantors are out of our hands. Additional starting costs: flyers: $300, brochures: $500, Capabilities Statements: $500, Landing Pages: $750, Websites: starting at $1,500, Form 1023EZ: $1,000. Business Plans: starting at $2,750 (depends on the industry), and RFP/grants consulting: $175/hour. We also help with applying for minority certifications, but there are many state and city assist agencies that offer this for free. Need a specific quote? Submit a request.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We start with a consultation. We get to know you, what you’ve accomplished, and what you expect to achieve. Next, we send a contract for the agreed upon terms, prices, and timelines. Upon signing the contract, payment is due in full upfront for projects under $5K and 50% upfront if over $5K (view our service page for more information). We send snapshots along the way, so you are always in the loop and aware of where we stand. We cannot guarantee any award, but working with our team is typically an investment that pays off in the long-run.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
From 2019 to current, our success rate is at 71%. Typically, most successful technical writers range from 30%-65%. Writers with an incredibly high rate usually write very little grants or respond to fewer bids. Question proposal and grant writers with an irresponsibly high success rate. Ask to see their wins, along with their portfolio and check references. With over $750M in submittals between 2020-2021 year and over $30M in 2022 (Jan-June), we can’t wait to post even more wins.
