Two guys came to my house yesterday, Sunday, June 8, 2025, to look at and discuss the work that needed to be done. Today, Monday, June 9, 2025, I texted the person who had texted me, previously, to set the appointment. I texted him to see if they were going to give me a quote because the two guys who came to my house yesterday did not say when I could expect the quote. The person, whose name appears to be Carlos Ferreira, as it is the name that appears next to the phone number, sent me a text with a quote of $6,500.00. I, then, sent him another text asking him if he would put it in a contract if I accepted his quote and that's when something very disturbing happened. He texted me back saying "only to confirm before proceeding with the contract." (By the way, this conversation was in Spanish, so, if you don't speak and write Spanish, you may find it difficult, if not impossible, to communicate with these people.) I have no idea what he meant by that. I did say, to the two workers that came to my house, that I was buying all of the primers and paints myself and that they all were the top of the line at Sherwin Williams. I, also, told the two guys that I had a prepared list that disclosed everything that had to be done, as I was disclosing it to them in the walk around the house. Carlos, then, stated that I would have to buy all of the supplies and he proceeded to list what those supplies and materials were. WHAT IS STREAMELY CONCERNING IS THAT WHEN CARLOS GAVE ME THE QUOTE OF $6,500.00, WHICH IS NOT A CHEAP QUOTE, HE FAILED TO DISCLOSE THAT IN ADDITION TO PAYING THE $6,500.00, I WOULD HAVE TO BUY ALL OF THE SUPPLIES/MATERIALS WHICH, AMONG OTHER THINGS, INCLUDED THE ELASTOMERIC, CEMENT, ETC. THIS IS NOT ETHICAL. WHEN WAS CARLOS PLANNING TO DISCLOSE THAT HIS QUOTE OF $6,500.00 DID NOT INCLUDE EVERYTHING THAT HE EXPECTED ME TO PAY? I WROTE HIM BACK AND SAID THAT, AS I TOLD THE TWO GENTLEMEN THAT CAME TO MY HOUSE, I WAS GOING TO BUY ALL OF THE PRIMERS AND PAINTS BUT I WASN'T A PAINTER AND I WASN'T GOING TO BUY THE OTHER MATERIALS/SUPPLIES. I ADDED THAT HE SHOULD INCREASE HIS QUOTE BY THE AMOUNT OF THE MATERIALS/SUPPLIES. AS IF WHAT HAD ALREADY HAPPENED WASN'T ENOUGH, HIS RESPONSE WAS THAT THAT WAS FINE AND THAT THEY WOULD START THIS COMING SUNDAY WITH THE PRESSURE WASHING. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY BIZZARE AND UNETHICAL!!! I, IMMEDIATELY, TEXTED HIM BACK AND SAID THAT I HAD NOT AGREED TO HAVE HIM DO THE WORK. THAT I HAD ONLY SAID THAT HE NEEDED TO INCREASE THE QUOTE BY ALL OF THE MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES THAT HE WANTED ME TO BUY BECAUSE I WAS NOT A PAINTER AND, SO, I WAS ONLY GOING TO BUY ALL OF THE PRIMERS AND ALL OF THE PAINTS. BELOW I WILL PASTE ALL OF THE TEXT MESSAGES THAT TRANSPIRED TODAY FOR THOSE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN READING IT FOR THEMSELVES. HOWEVER, THEY ARE MAINLY IN SPANISH AS, CLEARLY, IT IS THE PREFERRED LANGUAGE OF CARLOS AND THE OTHER WORKERS. THIS GUY CARLOS IS A CHEATER. DO NOT DEAL WITH HIM. ME: Can I expect a quote from your company? CARLOS: Buenas tardes, Mara, Espero que estés bien. Luego de hablar con pintor que visitó tu propiedad y revisar lo que necesitas, el precio total por el trabajo, dividido en tres sesiones, es de $6,500. Si tienes alguna pregunta o deseas revisar algún detalle, no dudes en escribiros. Estamos aquí para ayudarte. Gracias nuevamente por considerar a JF Painting & Maintenance ME: Si yo decido hacerlo, ustedes dan contratos? CARLOS: Solo para confirmar antes de avanzar con el contrato: el precio total de $6,500 cubre únicamente la mano de obra por las tres sesiones. Todos los materiales, incluyendo masilla, cemento, primer, pintura y elastomérico, serán comprados por usted por separado. Por favor, confirmenos si todo está bien para poder continuar. ME: Tiene que aumentar su presupuesto. Yo solo voy a comprar los primers y las pinturas. Yo no soy pintor y no voy a comprar todos los materiales. Comprelos usted y aumente su presupuesto. Gracias. CARLOS: Esta bien, Mara. Empezaremos el Domingo con el pressure washer. ME: NO SEÑOR. LOL. Yo no é dicho que lo voy a emplear. Yo muy claro le dije que tiene que ahumentar su "quote" para incluir los materiales porque YO LO QUE VOY A PONER ES LOS PRIMERS Y LAS PINTURAS. YO SE LO DIJE MUY CLARO A LOS DOS SEÑORES QUE VINIERON A MI CASA. USTED SOLO ME DIO UN QUOTE DE $6,500.00 Y NOOOOOO INDICO QUE NO IBA A PONER NINGUNOS DE LOS MATERIALES ASTA QUE YO LE PREGUNTE QUE SI USTED LO PONDRIA EN UN CONTRATO POR ESCRITO SI YO ACEPTABA SU "QUOTE." QUE ES LO QUE LE PASA A USTED? Para eso que yo tuve que llamarlo y preguntarle que si pensaba darme un quote!
