Introduction

I would love to become your saxophone, flute or clari teacher! I have over 15 years of experience playing and teaching music professionally, as well as a degree from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. I teach all levels and all ages, ranging selecting an instrument for the first time to working on advanced pieces and improvisation, etc. Learn from a real, working professional! I have been fortunate to work with a range of artists in jazz, pop, rock, hip-hip and latin music. This includes a television performance on LIVE With Kelly And Ryan, live shows at many concert venues in New York like Terminal 5, Pier 17, Webster Hall, the Rose Hall at Lincoln Center, and Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, plus recording projects with many bands and artists. These include St. Lucia, Steve Aoki, Big Daddy Kane, Xiomara Laugart, and Charli Persip. My goal is to make learning music fun, and I always tailor lessons to a student's specific needs and interests.

Michael is a great teacher and I look forward to my clarinet lessons each week. He is patient and explains the technical parts of playing very clearly. He gives good tips and teaches at an appropriate pace.

I offer lessons at $80 for 1 hour. If you are interested in 30 min, 45 min, or over an hour, we can discuss a rate.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to find out from the start what a student's goals are, and if they already have experience, where are the gaps or holes in their playing. If working with a beginner, we sometimes need to pick out an instrument. I tend to lean towards a well-rounded approach with beginners, usually including an instruction book.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor's degree in music performance from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. I've worked as a freelance musician in New York City, and I have experience teaching private students for over 12 years. This includes a 5 year period working at Mark Murphy's Music (one of the premier music schools in the greater NY/NJ area.
