There is nothing more fun then being in a room with a lot of people talking, dancing and generally having a great time. He was absolutely amazing to work with. From our first meeting I knew he was going to be wonderful and he definitely did not disappoint. He flawlessly executed each and every aspect of the reception, and kept me aware of time and everything! At one point he (along with my cousin and aunt) sang a Frank Sinatra song to me! If you are looking for a DJ for any event, this is without a doubt the best man for the job! Thank you Derek for everything and for making the day go as smoothly as possible!!

We used DJ Derek for a party this weekend, and he was more than a let down. He asked for a list of songs that we would like to hear, and he was provided with one. Of the songs on the list, we heard about 15 that were asked of him. It was more like he had the songs he thought we should hear, and if we wanted something different, then we could request it. There came a point where I told a guest that I felt like he was playing bad songs just so people would request songs, and in turn he would make tips. Multiple party guests asked what was going on with the music and where we found a DJ that would play this kind of music. The guests at my party were definitely a party crowd ranging in age from 25-60, and none of us were enjoying his playlist. When songs were requested, he seemed annoyed, and he told a few people that he didn't have the song. What DJ doesn't have AC/DC? It wasn't like we were requesting songs that he'd never head of! The song was on the list of songs that we wanted to hear. If he didn't have it, he should have gotten it prior to arriving at the party. I understand that it is customary to tip a DJ to play the song you request, however when the DJ sucks for the entire first hour, my guests shouldn't have to pay him to hear something to get the party going. One guest walked up to request a song with her wine in her hand, and while she was speaking to him, he waved her off and told her to come back when she wasn't drinking. I was astounded to hear that a DJ would treat a party guest that way. Who does this guy think he is? He played a song that was two of my guests' wedding song. I asked him to call those people to the dance floor. He took his time to call them to the floor, and by the time he did it, there was about 30 seconds of the song left. I asked him to play a song that we could all do a shot to, and he didn't have the song I wanted. Again, it's a newer, popular party song. Why doesn't a DJ have the latest party music? He told me he would play another song. He didn't ask when he should play it, so as I was just starting to pass out the shots, he started the song. By the time the last person got a shot, the song was over. I also asked him to make an announcement that we were going to do our shots together. He did not say anything about it. At the end of the night, my father, THE GUY PAYING THE BILL, went to ask him to play a song, and DJ Derek rubbed his fingers together in the way that people do to signify money. This guy can't be serious! In a nutshell, if you are looking for a greedy DJ with brass balls and no personality, DJ Derek is your guy! He has no idea the tip he could have received from the host.

The person you hire should be experienced. They should make you comfortable on your first meeting. They should listen to you intently and be responsive to your requests. They should make the time to work with you on your event. They should be flexible if you need to make changes to your event.
