What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I bill $35 per hour.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
New clients usually know what they want, but don't know how to explain it. I have a conversation with new clients to get an understanding of their needs, then offer suggestions of ways we can accomplish it. Budget is usually an issue, so I offer an estimate of my time before we start work, so they have a good idea of what they are looking at, cost wize.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor Degree in Management Information Systems
Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems
Masters Degree in Business Administration
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always loved working with website development, and decided to try freelancing as opposed to the "wage slave" system!
What types of customers have you worked with?
International Industrial Parts Suppliers, Home Security Experts, Landscapers, Insurance, Entertainment Promoters, Photographers, Taxidermists, Dog Breeders, Yacht Charters and more.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Most recently I designed a site for a Professional Photographer to display her talents and promote her small business. I built her site in 30 hours.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Get a solid estimate of the time it will take, timeline towards completion, and hidden costs like purchasing hosting and a domain name. Also expect an ongoing maintenance fee, unless you are fairly savvy with computers and the internet.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
What do I want. Do I have examples of websites I have seen and liked? Can I make a list of "must have" and "nice to have" features for my website?
