I had the great fortune of Stage Managing for Kris when he directed "Superior Donuts" for Colonial Players in Annapolis, MD. Though Kris was new to our theater, he seemed to know just how to fit in and anyone who met him felt like he had worked with them for years. I worked closely with Kris for about 4 months and found him to be professional, knowledgeable, innovative, encouraging, tactful, and inspiring: Kris is a dream Director! He really helped his actors find themselves in the parts, showed utmost respect and appreciation for his design team and didn't hesitate to dig in with some manual labor in helping get the set together! He dealt quickly and calmly with the difficult process of having to replace cast members - once prior to and once after opening. Each time he was there to help old and new cast with the transition and maintain the show integrity. In general, Kris just makes the process of putting on a show fun and rewarding! What I personally appreciated most was how Kris completely respected my history with the theater (11 years) and my own experiences (director, actor, producer, stage manager, costume and set designer); he consulted with me and valued my observations and opinions. I learned so much from working with Kris, I jumped on the opportunity to be his Assistant Director for his next outing with us! The only advice I'd offer Kris the next time out is do not hesitate to voice a concern when something seems a little wonky! We all want you to succeed and we've got your back!

Rocky Horror Show; LIttle Theatre of Alexandria, Alexandria VA. Kristofer Kauff Directed....I was the Set Dresser/Props person. What impressed me: Kris is a visionary, very clear in his directing style and one of the few people who has the gift of believing that ANYTHING is possible and the SKILLS to actually prove it true. He was such an inspiring director that, no matter how difficult things became, you always had the strength and desire to go back to the drawing board to meet his high expectations in the finished product. Although he has very high standards, he was there day and night to offer an extra hand when necessary...whether it be helping with lighting, acting, or stage dressing. Kris's enthusiasm is completely contagious but he can also view things in a level and objective manner when necessary. I'm sure he does have areas he can improve in, but I didn't see them during this show.

I wrote a series of scripts that Kristofer directed. His direction was incredibly professional, intuitive and imaginative. He stays very busy, but if you get the chance to work with him, do it.
