You are hiring a Designer because you need the expertise in your home. It's important that you prepare as much as possible too. Know what exactly you want them to look at and/or focus on so that you are able to make the most of your initial consultation. Also be certain that you are both on the same page as what to expect from the initial consultation.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
You should make the decision to hire an interior designer as you would any other paid profession. Sadly we see so often people that want to 'pick your brain' or don't understand the concept of worth of time and intellectual property. Your Designer is worth every dollar (and often times more than) they are charging.
