Introduction: Danzan Ryu is a Japanese style of Jujitsu. It was developed by Henry Seishiro Okazaki, on the island of Hawaii. Danzan Ryu is a traditional style of jujitsu as well as a complete system of self-defense. Students are first taught to roll and fall correctly, as well as basic joint locks and escape techniques. Next, the students will learn throwing and constricting techniques. These build into combination techniques. Our dojo is allied with the American Judo and Jujitsu Federation. We meet on Wednesday Nights, 7:30-9:30pm. Come try a few classes for free.

I've always been a pencil to paper type of artist and Danzan Ryu Jujitsu is a living/phyiscal art, something I can never illustrate with just a pencil and paper with its long history of growth and philosophy. This new Year and trying to get shape. So far after my first month class, I look foward to going back every week. I couldn't stand the dullness of the traditional gym so I found a better way to do it and Sensei Bill and my classates at the dojo are so encouraging. As a result I've been able to get through a day of work or class without fighting to stay awake and developed a sense of patience that haven't experienced in a while. Getting back in forth to work and school, someone could put me in harm's way and my chances of escaping safely increases every week. By the end of my second month I'll be closer to my physical goal and gain more than I expected. I'll see you Monday!

Florida Danzan Ryu Jujitsu is an excellent school. The classes are designed to give each student the opportunity to work one on one with the instructor. Very comfortable environment!!!

Been coming for nearly 2 years with my Wife to this tradition style Japanese DZR Jujitsu, which was the first Jujitsu taught to Americans in America, regardless of gender or nationality and started originally in Hawaii in the 40s. This is an adult class held every Monday from 7:30 to 9:30pm. Exercise intensity is light to medium. Everyone is very nice, kind and cautious. This is not geared for sport competition. It is designed heavily for a smaller our weaker person to use against a bigger or stronger attacker. We train in many self defense techniques involving standing, kneeling and grappling, although we try to avoid heavy grappling because in real life bad guys or bullies often have other bad friends (and weapons) and by remaining on our feet or knees, we can transition to the next assailant with more options, escape all together or restrain until the threat is removed or authorities arrive. We're not trying to score points, we're trying to diffuse and protect... disable and disarm if at all possible... go home alive as safely as possible. As such, training ultimately entails not only stopping an aggressor with appropriate measures, it also eventually includes incapacitating, disabling and disarming attackers using moves that are illegal in sports due to high risk of injury. Those are our choice to use to protect ourselves if the threat warrants it. We're also taught how to communicate with authorities from a safe distance away from the threat, after the fact.

The classes are small and everyone's treated like family. I primarily took classes for self defense and learned so much in a short amount of time. The teachers were nice and always put safety first.
