Introduction: A dance can be pleasurable for everyone, the performers and the audience. It can also be atrociously displeasing to be involved in or watch. This is the difference between a conversation and an argument, agreement and disagreement, complementing and opposing. It is not easy; It takes discipline and practice to become a good dancer, but the Music does hold it all together.
ART, The perfecting arrangement of stimuli that glorifies the means by which we perceive it. Why else would The Creator pause and step back from his work at numerous times during the creation? To see if it is good! And He saw that it was good. This is the process of creating; arranging and stepping back to see if it is good. In Dance, we create Art with the movement of our bodies. We call the arrangements we make choreography. We rehearse choreography in front of large mirrors to see if it is good. We arrange motions and perfect (tweak) motions just as an artist does with strokes of paint on a canvas. We use similar terminology to critique what we see in the mirror: Lines, contrast, emphasis, balance, flow, etc. We are artists.
