Counseling goals
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. Whether you are spending a boatload of money or doing a simple beach wedding, you want it to be beautiful and memorable. I was a pastor for 22 years and have officiated many weddings. I believe it is God who is bringing you and your fiance together as husband and wife and that He is present to do so at the ceremony. The ceremonies I lead are typically personal and joyful, either traditional or more contemporary. I would welcome the opportunity to provide premarital counseling to help you have what you need as you start your adventure of a lifetime together.

Full disclosure: I've known Chuck (who I lovingly call Pastor Chuck) since I was about 10 years old. So this might be a bit biased. However! What I can say without any semblance of favoritism is that Chuck is a wonderful officiant. Here are the ways he helped my husband and I's wedding go smoothly: - He met with us well before the wedding, in order to talk over what we wanted and how the ceremony would go - Even though I'm a liberal (Christian) feminist, and Chuck has more conservative views, he had no problem performing the ceremony without some of the verbiage I did not want, and announcing us at the end as, "Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Doe" instead of the way he was used to, "Mr. and Mrs. John Doe." - It rained on our wedding day right before the service started, stormed actually, meaning there was a last minute change right before the ceremony that required me to have to descend down a looooong stair case, which I was not prepared for. When I got to the bottom and we started our vows I had a horrible coughing fit due to the nerves and had to have someone bring me water. Chuck managed to make a joke that totally diffused an awkward situation and made everyone laugh ("I've never done a wedding where the Bride starts drinking during the ceremony....") It was perfect. - He gave us exactly the ceremony we were hoping for; personal, spiritual, fun, and yes, short. I could not imagine having it been any better (other than not having had that coughing fit.) If you're looking for an officiant I cannot recommend Chuck Mcarthur highly enough.

My husband and I were married by Pastor Chuck just over a year ago, in August 2013. Pastor Chuck required marriage counseling before the wedding, and we started meeting very soon after he (thankfully) said he was available for our wedding date. My husband was initially very skeptical about these sessions, but because of Pastor Chuck's very kind, open, rational, and easy-going demeanor, all of my husband's misgivings were eased. For the counseling sessions, we met with Pastor Chuck about once a month for the 8 months leading up to the wedding. Although my husband and I had been together for four years, and thought we knew all of the important stuff about each other, Pastor Chuck brought up quite a few subjects that we probably would have never considered, and worked through them in the sessions. I do have to say that in these sessions, Pastor Chuck was incredibly honest. I never once felt like he was judging us, but instead got the overwhelming impression that he truly cares about people, and really wants each marriage to start off with the right foundation. On our wedding day, Pastor Chuck was on time and prepared, and the ceremony was perfect. In fact, at least half of our 120 guests made it a point to tell us how amazing they thought our wedding officiant was. Our overall experience working with Pastor Chuck was very positive, and I would definitely (and have) recommend him.
