FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When engaging with a new client, my approach is centered around understanding and collaboration. Initially, I schedule a discovery session, either virtually or in person, to learn about your event's objectives, audience, and desired outcomes. This conversation allows me to tailor my presentation to align with your vision and the specific needs of your audience. Following our initial meeting, I'll develop a customized proposal outlining the topics, themes, and stories that will resonate most with your attendees, ensuring that the content is both engaging and relevant. I welcome feedback at this stage to refine and adjust the presentation to your satisfaction. In preparation for the event, I'll coordinate with your team on logistics, such as the format, timing, and any technical requirements, to ensure a seamless integration into your program. I also offer to create promotional materials or participate in pre-event publicity efforts to help maximize engagement. On the day of the event, I arrive early to familiarize myself with the venue and make any last-minute adjustments. My goal is to deliver a compelling and impactful presentation that not only meets but exceeds your expectations, leaving your audience inspired and motivated. Post-event, I appreciate the opportunity to debrief with you to gather feedback and discuss any further insights or follow-up that may benefit your audience. Building long-term relationships with my clients is important to me, and I look forward to the possibility of working together again in the future.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My educational background and professional training are deeply intertwined with my work as a motivational speaker and caregiving advocate. I hold a degree from Indiana University, where I focused on marketing and communications. Since 2016, I’ve been a member of the Wounded Warrior Project Warriors Speak team, engaging with diverse audiences across the country, and conveying complexities caused by tragedy and grief in an accessible and relatable manner. Each year the team trains together to craft and polish new material. I’ve also had the honor to be a workshop participant in several Writers Guild Foundation workshops since 2012, giving me the opportunity to explore self-expression and creativity through writing. During the pandemic, I created a created a curriculum for virtual learning titled “The Art of Public Speaking” to teach others how to be an effective virtual presenter. Currently, I serve as a facilitator for public speaking training at Wounded Warrior Project.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My journey into motivational speaking began through a very personal pathway—my own experiences as a military caregiver and my involvement with advocacy. Supporting my brother, a combat wounded U.S. Army veteran, and navigating the complexities of caregiving, resilience, and recovery, I found a deep sense of purpose and a desire to share our story with others facing similar challenges. This personal mission grew as I became more involved with veteran support initiatives and saw the profound impact that sharing experiences and insights could have on individuals and families navigating the caregiving journey. My background in marketing and communications, combined with my passion for advocacy, naturally led me to public speaking, where I could reach a broader audience. I started by participating in events as a fellow with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, sharing my story and the lessons I've learned about resilience, strength, and the power of community support. As I spoke at more events, the feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing how the stories and strategies I shared helped them feel less alone and more empowered to face their own challenges. This encouragement fueled my desire to expand my reach and impact, leading me to professional speaking engagements and advocacy work on a larger scale. Each speaking opportunity has been a step forward in my mission to inspire, educate, and support others through their own journeys of caregiving and personal growth.
