FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My dad. Growing up my dad always had a camera in his hand. Even after years of being caught off guard, my family continued to get caught in his pictures with our mouths open, ready to take a bite of food! He took pictures of everything! Video as well... and although it seemed like a pain every time he interviewed us on our birthday or dragged us outside for a quick picture - I look back on the images remembering his face and how he acted when he was taking the picture or video. He loved it... and one day he decided to pass the torch, or a camera in this case, to me. He started ordering me around at weddings, making me run up the isle to take a photo because I was smaller than him, he would pass the camera to me at family functions etc. Then, in high school, he gave me his beloved 35mm. The rest of this story is spelled out in the last 10+years of my work :)
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I think photographers generally don't see each other as competition. In this profession, there's always enough work to go around! I personally think of it this way: If I don't like his / her work, they certainly aren't competition. If I LOVE their work, they are inspirational.
