FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For grooming: All pricing depends on the condition of the coat, the complexity of the cut, and how long the groom takes based on your dog's specific needs. I groom with you and your dog's comfort as priority! Full grooms for small dogs (under 20lbs) are around $80, while large doodle breeds or similar can range from $140 to $180. Full grooms include haircuts, bath/blowdry, nails clipped and filed smooth and ears cleaned. Anal glands included only if deemed necessary after consultation. Discounts offered for multiple dogs at one residence scheduled on the same day (they can be friends and family, too). For training: Plans are highly customized for you and your dog's needs, covering only what they and you specifically need. To keep it simple, there is a flat hourly rate of $80. Though many scenarios do not require more than a couple of hours to give all the information necessary to succeed, the daily practice is just as important.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For first visits, I like to spend a little time getting to know you and your dog(s), so I can offer the best possible experience. Puppies who have never been groomed will get introduced with a bath and trimming only around their face, feet and sanitary areas so they build positive association; rarely is a full haircut advised for puppies under 6 months old.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started my education by working in veterinary clinics for 3 years, then moved to work as an obedience instructor for an additional 4 more with a large company. I then spent a few years doing rescue volunteer work and running a doggy daycare, before adding grooming to my skillset. I trained at a professional academy for 2 years as a groomer. As of 2023, I now have 10 years of experience as a pet groomer. Since the grooming industry and training industry are not regulated, there is no licensing, so experience with proper training is important. While in pre-vet school, I worked at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in their education department. Here, I learned communication skills that allow me to effectively help you arrive at a grooming regimen that is best for you and your dog.
