- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Throughout my life, I have worked in every aspect of home and commercial interiors including kitchen and bath, custom linens, residential furnishings, design build and contract interiors with Herman Miller. Each experience has enhanced the elements of style and the functional aspects of my work that I have developed through the years.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
One of my current projects is a dilapidated farmhouse located outside of Atlanta. The owner wanted her own greenhouse so she moved from her southern belle of a house to what is becoming an amazingly charming, light and airy modern farmhouse with a twist of boho. The homeowner flew me out for the week to chose colors, finishes and make decisions about the style and space, and the rest of it has been a virtual collaboration. We’ve knocked down a few walls, made a breakfast nook with a banquette, double French door entry and a 3D rendering so no surprises, and she is thrilled. I simply could not be more excited to be a part of making her forever home dreams come true!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for someone who is more interested in what you love than what they love. Look for someone you think you could be friends with because this can be a hard process at times and you need someone who understands and respects you. Look for someone who is honest and sincere and you won’t end up throwing money away on unnecessary things you may not even want or need.
