Introduction: Experience is my biggest asset. I have been teaching swimming for over 24 years with students ranging from 4 months to over 64 years old, male, female, groups, individuals, swim team, highly motivated, to VERY stubborn. Everyone is different and understanding body language is vital in the water. This can only be learned over time and through experience. It is not a job... I love the fact that every skill I teach is a life lesson that the student will carry with them for the rest of their lives. There is no way to explain the feeling I get when it is clear that the student (child or adult) "gets it." In Florida "getting it" opens doors not only for safety, but also the beach, rivers, lakes, pools and so much more.

I highly recommend Rebecca as a swim instructor. She was able to teach two people with totally different fears and motivations in about 3 sessions. Her patience and calmness helped my five-year old get over her fear and remove her life jacket and jump into the pool. Using her underwater camera as a lure she cajoled my stubborn, fearlful toddler into swimming, jumping into the pool , and following safe pool habits. She helped me get over my fear of drowning with her very practical, sweet yet no-nonsense technique. I loved the way she started the class by saying very sweetly.."lets get real, we are not trying to be olympic-level swimmers so choose a style that you can follow and will work". By the third class, I was jumping into the pool in the deep end and swimming end-to-end ! Also all the underwater pictures that she took and forwarded to me are priceless.

We love Rebecca! She taught my 5 year-old son to swim and is now teaching my 2 year-old daughter. Rebecca handles the kids perfectly, given they are in a relatively dangerous setting (non-swimmers in a pool). She is firm, yet compassionate, and the kids respond. We like that she teaches safety first and even taught my son how to save his little sister. On the business side, Rebecca is responsive, respectful and always on time. I highly recommend her!

Rebecca, through patience and the right amount of persistence, was able to teach an adult student how to swim,dive, and most importantly-enjoy the water. In less than 5 months (15 lessons), Rebecca was able to take the student from not going into water higher than chest level to being able to snorkel in open water.Rebecca has provided the confidence the student needed to enjoy the water. Rebecca started teaching our son to swim after he accidentally fell into a pool at around 10 months old. She has such a consistent manner with the little ones easing their fears while keeping nervous parents calm. Our main goal at that early stage was for him to know how to get to safety, which in a few short weeks we felt assured this was the case. We've continued to use Rebecca to build upon those early lessons and will do so again this year with our now 4 year old. I highly recommend using her with your young swimmers!

Ms. "Becca" did exceptional work with my son. She has a remarkable way of knowing when to push forward and when to hold back. Furthermore she was very thorough in her explanations to me about her methodology, as well as, giving me assignments to work on with my son until the next lesson. Her methods were effective and my son made great strides under her instruction. Very professional.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I do a pay as you go pricing, with zero contracts ever. Having a child myself I know some things just do not work out as I had planned, be it her temperament, my time, work, weather, or a variety of other issues. Pay as you go allows you to see what you think of me and my style and not be worried about being locked in to something. I do offer discounts when I am able to remain at one location for multiple lessons since I don't have the additional gas or time. * One lesson- $35 per lesson (lessons usually last 30 minutes or more) * More than one lesson back to back- $30 each * Group lessons- 3 or more at one time $25 each (these are not recommended and I can explain why, but I can do them.)
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Before our first lesson I like to have a conversation with either the student or parent to determine exactly where they are in the process and explain what they can expect. This enables us to enter with no surprises. After 20+ years and hundreds of students there are some things that I simply know are going to happen and have found that when everyone is on the same page.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my Water Safety Instruction (WSI) certification in high school when I got my life guarding license and CPR certification. My degree is in Sports Medicine with a minor in Exercise Physiology which taught me the body mechanics as well as assisting my clients with physical special needs. While these are helpful and absolutely necessary, I would have to say that my most comprehensive education and training has come from life and experience. Being 40 now with a nine year old daughter of my own, I have learned more than any course ever taught me. Having the opportunity to work with people of all ages, on the autism spectrum, and many others with physical or mental limitations has taught me as much as I have been blessed to teach them.
