What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always, always, always ask to see: copy of contractors license, contact information of liability and workers comp insurance carriers (call them yourself to get proof of insurance), pictures of completed projects, and several references from local clients you can speak with. I am constantly amazed by clients who meet me once, give me a $20,000 deposit, and never even ask if I'm licensed. I'm all about trust and confidence, but unfortunately there are too many stories about hapless customers either never seeing the person they hired again, or having to put up with nightmare results from incompetent unqualified workers. Trust but verify!
