Introduction: All the training done in our class is originally inspired by Stanislavsky & Michael Chekhov, though we also integrate useful modern acting techniques.
All the exercises are psycho-physical. This means we incorporate the psychology, imagination, and the body, the actors Whole Being at all times.
All training is based on a holistic approach to life and acting. I believe that one of the biggest gifts an actor can give him/herself is to expand his/her active ability for empathy. We train under the principle that actors are professional human beings and that our characters and their stories are worthy of being seen and heard. In order to do this the actor needs to be present, vulnerable, and emotionally available, and needs to have the ability to share an experience with the fellow players and the audience through the character and his/her psychology and circumstances.
Our bodies can be our best friends, or our worst enemies. ~ Michael Chekhov
In the fast-moving Film/TV (and even todays professional Theatre) industry, we actors are in high demand for quick results and shortcuts.
We need to be able to be instantly inspired, be emotionally available, learn lines quickly by heart (not by head) in order to own them, and make the character be filled with the objectives and desires of a multi-layered human being in the various complex situations of the human condition, all without much preparation time. Michael Chekhov Technique has been proven to be extremely helpful in all types of acting challenges.
I enjoy watching actors re-discover the joy of acting! Watching actors become free with their artistry is an overwhelming feeling! The Michael Chekhov Technique inspires actors' imagination, nourishes their ability for a heightened send of empathy, specified understanding of form and concentration, deep character transformation, freeing creative forces in the actor's inner and outer life to be at service of his/her creative impulses at all times and all circumstances offering infinitive amount of possibilities for their artistic life. I take great pleasure in helping an actor discover this within themselves!
