- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We are regularly offering discounts and specials that change frequently and are not always able to list them on specialty sites. Please ask if one of our current promotions fits your project! We never charge for on-site evaluations. Our standard Service Call is $175. This is sometimes subject to discounts and specials. A Service Call for us is anything that is not an installation but requires active work for a technician or up to three hours of time. All of our installation pricing is based only on parts cost and labor time, and never includes any miscellaneous upcharges or processing fees. This does, however, mean that installation costs can vary wildly depending on the needs of the system or the desired functionality of the cameras. Please let us know if you are working with a specific budget or how we can tailor a system to your comfort.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Every new Installation or Service Call will involve a brief conversation on your troubles or needs. There will be some basic questions on considerations for a new system or a repair, items that may determine what equipment is needed, and smoothing expectations for the work itself. For Installations, or if a Service Call may be significant work, we aim to schedule an On-Site Evaluation. Office staff may be knowledgeable and offer many considerations, but the technician is the one to perform the service and having eyes on the situation can provide a lot more detail. We will always attempt to schedule an On-Site Evaluation for an early time so that if everything is agreeable, the technician can jump straight to work. An estimate of the price of the job is given during the initial conversation, but a final quote will always be offered during the Evaluation. We always quote high during the initial conversation in case there are egregious considerations that the customer or the office staff are not aware of, but the technician points out. The final quote is almost always under this estimate. Sometimes with new installations, the work cannot begin immediately after the On-Site Evaluation, due to ordering specific cameras or equipment for a custom system. If this is the case, we will schedule a start time for the work with the customer directly. The technician performing the work will always be the same technician providing the Evaluation.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
We advise all customers to talk to a provider before purchasing equipment on their own. Not because purchasing do-it-yourself equipment is bad, but because it is not always evident that a system will accomplish what you EXPECT. Discussing what the system needs to accomplish with a provider beforehand can give perspective on considerations that may not have been thought of, provide recommendations on brand or features, or simply allow for tips on placement and handling. It also helps avoid some potential downfalls - such as some do-it-yourself kits that really... Aren't. That way even if you need a provider to perform an installation of your pre-packaged system, you're prepared and the expectations can be met.
