As a general contractor I worked with John for many years. He was my "go to" guy for all my paint work. Very honest and dependable.

We hired Mr. Wood to repaint our kitchen and our wood kitchen cabinets. Although the job sounds simple, it was very complex. Our kitchen had been painted several times over the years, but often badly. The cabinets were the original 1950s kitchen cabinets and had been painted several times, and the paint was peeling, chipped and scratched in several places and impossible to clean. John was able to save our cabinets and get them looking brand new! He sanded (and re-sanded) and prepped so that they would accept the new paint. And, he recommended the appropriate type of paint so that we wouldn't run into the same problems in the future. He also did a great job with the walls and trim which had several spots that were damaged and needed to be filled and sanded before he could paint. We were first impressed because he showed up on time for the original meeting and gave us a detailed estimate of both the cost and time it would take. It ended up taking longer due to unforeseen problems (did I mention the cabinets had been painted badly?) but he always kept us informed of what was taking longer and how long it would take. He was on time and efficient and did very thorough and detailed work. In addition to painting, he installed our new cabinet hardware and hinges, which - given the age of the cabinets - was also not simple. We are very pleased with his work and plan to hire him again.

He came over to install a dog door. The original request was for it to go through a door, unfortunately the door was made of metal, so we decided to go through a wall instead. There were a lot of surprises with the wall since it was double paneled which made the job even more difficult. John had to go to Home Depot to get some additional supplies in order to make things work. He left us with the hole cut out and we had to finish by securing the door to the wall. John was as professional as could be. The problem was more that the dog door didn't really come with the hardware needed to go through that thick of a wall. The instructions it came with weren't the best either.
