Introduction: Copy editing: Most folks don't need an editor on-hand all time. But when you do, I'm available to help with your editing needs, be they proofing, copy editing for spelling, grammar and style, or deep-dive editing for clarity and conciseness. I have been a working editor for 24 years for all manner of publications, including newspapers (for the news, sports, editorial and opinion sections), magazines (antiques and collectibles), websites (restaurants and travel), corporate communications (education software and country clubs), newsletters (family business services) and blogs (general) among many others. I am currently writing/editing for a website in Atlanta, but would like to offer my services to those who need it. If you could tell me exactly what items you need edited and when (type of writing, number of pages, deadlines), I will provide a reasonable quote either by the job or the hour. Wedding services: I am also an ordained minister who offers officiant services for nondenominational/non-religious/civil wedding ceremonies. I will work with you on writing your vows (or use yours) and am willing to work throughout the metro Atlanta area. I mostly do traditional-style services, but will also do special requests and theme weddings and provide the bride and groom with the type of ceremony they wish for their special day. Wedding services quotes are for the whole ceremony, and I would be available for rehearsals when requested.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
On smaller pieces I charge $35 an hour and usually pace myself at two to three pages an hour, reading each piece a minimum of four times (once in whole before the editing process twice while doing the line editing and proofing, and once again after all edits).
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I usually like to take a few minutes to talk with the client about the job to find out exactly what is wanted. Sometimes trading emails can lead to misunderstandings.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have spent 20 years as a newspaper reporter/columnist/editor and the last seven years as a website writer and editor, so I can can easily shift gears from articles to papers to books (I am currently writing my own book).
