My daughter needed some urgent help for her Pre calculus test in couple of days. I heard about Bruce online as he had taken many calculus lessons. Was concerned about the online approach first, still gave it a try. Bruce responded immediately and gave his time the same day...actually night 10 to 12 as he had back to back classes scheduled until 10PM. My daughter absolutely loved it. She understood all the difficult concepts that she had trouble with. Basically, she is a very smart kid in PACE, all AP classes, straight A's in all subjects. But, some topics in pre-calc have been tough for her and I am really glad we found Bruce. He is patient, keeps students engaged, knowledgeable, flexible, willing to help...a combo tough to find. All in all, Bruce is the Best.

The best money I could spend - Patient and knows the subject Bruce breaks the subjects/material down to where it is totally understood. Bruce is patient and teaches in a way that anyone who's not getting it "will" get it. I couldn't have picked a better tutor for my son, who in the beginning had no understanding of the subject at all. He was stressing and afraid of failing Physics. Bruce tutoring style is so excellent until now my son understands the subject/material. The feeling of failing the subject has dissipated all together. [Update] 5/7/2015 I started out poorly in the first quarter of the semester, only achieving "D's" and lower, but after taking Bruce on as my tutor I finally excelled. He... is unrealistically good at his craft. He dismantles every subject and then puts it all back together in an 'easy to read/follow/study' format. He really is easy-going and will stick with you if additional help if needed. I had difficulty understanding basic physics, my instructor gave me the impression that he only had a degree in 'teaching'--nothing specific--, and I needed help. If you are feeling like you can't do ANYTHING at all, Bruce will prove you wrong. He'll get you to where you need to be quicker and faster than anyone, but he'll do it in a way that ensures your understanding is solid. He teaches in a way that best suits your ability to understand or comprehend. You will leave each session with all your questions answered, understanding everything above all else. The impact of Mr. Bruce's efforts will be (forever) a positive impact on our daughter's success in life! She was a fairly difficult student to tutor at first, because she prides herself on doing everything on her own, which until 8th grade had worked for her. However, a family relocation mid-term and a new school, new subjects and new teaching styles, created difficulties. In spite of being a very bright young woman, she was for the first time in her academic career struggling with advanced math. This difficultly quickly eroded her confidence. Mr. Bruce's approach and patience engaged her almost immediately and provided her with the tools to reason through the material successfully. He was able to convince her that even though the material was challenging it was not beyond her ability to understand. This was a pretty significant accomplishment and proof to us that he is a gifted educator. In that original course, our daughter went from nearly failing to achieving an A. Mr. Bruce continued to be a resource to her throughout the remainder of her high school career. She graduated w a 4.3 gpa, w high honors, and the advanced math skills she developed over time helped her get early admission acceptance to UGA where she's on the Dean's list. Mr. Bruce is completely capable (and effective) in both face-to-face sessions as well as in using webinar (and Skype) sessions, which is handy for last-minute sessions. He always try to be flexible w scheduling and ensured he doesn't end sessions until your child is comfortable! We would highly recommend him to any parent and student seeking an academic coach in his areas of expertise.

Bruce helped me with some Math struggles not too long ago and was so incredibly helpful. Thanks to him I was able to pass my final Math class which I was so thankful for, as Math has always been a struggle for me. Bruce was so patient, kind and encouraging and even when he wasn’t able to come to the house, we would video call and he would share a screen where he would thoroughly write out and explain Math problems which was also so helpful. Would absolutely 10/10 recommend Bruce as a Math tutor as he is not only extremely professional but also very kind and very patient.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The student is my boss - even if I am older - just a little! I always make sure the student knows it is important to ask questions without any hesitation. Too many students are scared to ask in school for fear or anxiety. I used to also. We all lose when a question is not asked. We all win when the student gets a solid answer and succeeds. I also seek to know exactly what the student needs. I never go in with an agenda to teach my stuff. I answer questions and clarify doubts - that is my priority. Find the need and serve it.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After failing miserably in high school, my friend's dad saved the day and got me a job teaching math so that I could learn as I was teaching!! This was a life changing experience at 19. During that year of teaching math I had to study really really hard and found that I could do it - if I tried. This life lesson helps me to relate to students who struggle and motivates me to give them those light bulb moments. Getting back into university I rose to the top of the class thanks to this experience. Been tutoring math online and in-person for over 12 years in GA.
