FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Always. My company offers weekly ongoing CE courses of all subjects and contract changes. I attend as needed to keep me abreast of the changes effecting my clients.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I purchased my FIRST home in 1997, there was no such thing as a buyers agent to help buyers through the process. I was discouraged after calling every agency in the phone book with each telling me "there is no such thing as a buyers agent".....until one day, I walk into a ReMax office (almost in tears from discouragement).....determined that I was not going to spend so much money without having someone on MY side.....and so I walk in and ask the lady at the front desk and said....I have called every agency in the phone book and you are the last one that I thought that I would try....do you have ANYONE who will be willing to represent me as a buyer? She said "no, we only have listing agents....there is no such thing as a buyers agent" and just then, I hear a shuffle coming from the long dark hallway with a gentle, low voice saying, "well, now, I might can help you young lady, it can't be any different then representing a seller"....finally, I had a buyers agent.. He helped me through the entire process and I felt secure in my first home purchase. I tease my husband and say that I think that I created my own job.....it took a while for the concept of representing buyers caught on to other agents....but today, there are many buyers agents to represent buyers....unfortunately, we are not advertised as easily as a listing agent on a sign. You either have to get lucky or be referred to find a buyers agent on your side.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Get them buyers programs, credit assistance. Prequalify buyers. Set them up with a home search. Show homes. Give a CMA to show the worth. Help prepare the offer and protect their interests in the contract. Guide them through the process and arrange for inspectors, contractors, attorneys....etc....and always attend the closing.
