FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I stay plugged in to what is going on in the window covering world by attending expos, reading window coverings magazines, blogs, and following industry leaders on social networks.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I came into this line of work by chance. While I was still in college, my parents purchased their first home. The dining area sliding glass door had vertical blinds and I didn't like the look. My mom said that the blinds had to stay and there is nothing else you can put on it. I didn't listen to her, went to the store and bought a sheer scarf and made a valance to go on the fascia of the blinds. I liked it, made a swagging treatment with another ready-made scarf in my bedroom. People visiting our house, liked the treatments, asked me to make something for them. I really liked designing and fabricating the treatments, so I started taking classes and learning everything about the standards and fabricating methods. When you are very interested in something, you will find out everything there is to know about it. So I did.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Different kinds of window treatments and pillows.
