When we contacted Steve, We were quoting with several different companies. We contacted Steve through the internet and he responded very quickly. After narrowing our choices down to the top 3, Steve was clearly the best for the job. He listened to the vision my wife and I had for our yard and the budget on hand. He was a complete pro in that he helped my wife and I prioritize what needed to be done and even suggested many options that we never even thought of. We were very pleased with Steve's expertise and were thrilled with the end result. Steve kept us informed and was always prompt to follow up anytime we had questions. We had a fairly large job. Steve and his crew came in, assessed the situation and transformed our yard into a work of beauty. The retaining wall behind our house had failed because of previous poor workmanship during construction. The ground slopes away from the house toward a stream at approximately 30 degrees making construction very difficult. Additionally, access to the rear of the house was a very narrow sloping passage between houses that made the transportation of building materials a major challenge. The contractor devised a pathway between the houses and used special construction equipment to successfully move the construction materials to the rear work site. Steve contacted an engineering firm to look at the site and develop a plan to counter the severe slope and ensure the proper construction of the wall. His determination, excellent job knowledge resulted in an outstanding retaining wall that will last forever - a difficult but excellent job. I highly recommend Steve Storey and Georgia Natural Scapes.

The brick facing that suppported the posts on our front porch had been failing for a number of years and we finally reached the point that we felt it could no longer be ignored. I did a Google search for brick masons in the Marietta area and found a listing for thumbtack.com I filled in the short questionnaire on the site an recieved three responses. I ended up meeting with two of the three. Steve impressed me with the manner he quoted the project, his explanation of the work that would be done, and with his follow through. The stellar reviews on thumbtack were also an important factor. The overall project took almost two days, and we did discover more damage than was initially expected or that could have been anticpated. Again we were given options and selected the one that best met our needs. We are quite pleased not only with the workmanship, but the way the timeline was met and the way the two men who did the work replaced everything that they had to disturb. We certainly recommend that you give Steve and his company a chance to earn your business.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
I received my degree in ornamental horticulture and design in 1984. I was working in the exterminating business for several years, but the passion for landscaping was always there as I did landscape projects on the side (with the approval of my boss!). I got so busy that I left the exterminating business and went full time with landscape contracting in 1990.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We installed a job that included a Koi pond with two waterfalls. We were having issues with one of our employees, and, as it turned out, he decided to create problems for us on the job. The waterfall lost water - up to 4+ inches a day! We had to take each section of the feature apart and rebuild it.... what am I proud of? We stand behind our work 100%. We have never had this kind of problem, but we did and we worked tirelessly until it was perfect! The troubled employee is no longer with our company and the customer is happy!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Check references before hiring a landscape contractor! The last few years has really weeded out the landscape design / contractor field, but many of the former employees of defunct landscape companies are working with a cellphone and a truck! Buyer beware! Look for a landscaper with an established reputation. Going with the lowest priced bid may cost you much more in the long run with change orders, or worse yet, having the job left unfinished or done so incompetently that it has to be ripped out and replaced (we know, because we have had to do this many times for clients in the past). Our pricing is competitive, and a money saving value in the long run. Once we complete your project, you will never have to hire another company to come in and fix it. It will be completed correctly! Changes in our price only happen if there is some unknown or undiscovered issue on the property, like an underground spring, debris buried by the builder, a large vein of solid rock, etc, that must be addressed during the project.
