Introduction: I try to make working with a designer as stress free and beneficial to the client as possible. It's very important that we use the client's style, tastes and preferences as the foundation for their design vision. I am also very flexible in how a client works with me. Because I had my own home furnishings and accessories store for 15 years, I have access to sources that not only give the best look, but do so well within the client's budget. For the times when all a client needs is expert design consultation to choose colors, re-organize furniture or make some remodeling decisions, we can work on an affordable flat hourly or project based rate. It's this flexibility that provides the best, experienced design service with access to affordable furnishings, window treatments and accessories that makes the difference. I love being able to work with my clients over the long term by building a relationship as a "trusted advisor". Most of my clients continue to call me for advice or counsel long after we have completed the project I was working on. Matching the design needs of a client and doing it within their financial means is very important to me. It's a challenge that keeps me engaged and energized on their behalf.

We recently finished our basement and needed an expert's eye to help with ideas to furnish and decorate the space. We had a vision for the space, however do not have the eye or energy to go do all the shopping and hope that everything came together. We have never used an Interior Designer or Decorator in the past. Stepping completely outside of our comfort zone, we found Sara on Thumbtack, reached out to her, and received a response within 24 hours. Through the entire process, Sara communicated a clear vision, plan and process. She set clear expectations, there were never any surprises and she was respectful, honest and relatable. . Sara asked a ton of questions about our family, hobbies, things we like to do, visitors that may be at the house, etc. to understand our lifestyle and preferences in the home. She leveraged building a relationship with our family to curate several different solutions for our basement space. We are OVER THE MOON with the service, product and outcome and we have Sara, her assistant Monique and the entire Heritage Team to thank. Its a smooth experience working with Sara. On the initial visit Sara explained the process and what to expect at each milestone, soon we realized interior design is a journey and its important to get both the parties on the same page. Sara is very patient, she spent time reviewing our house layout and spoke in detail to understand our needs and taste. We are glad that the final product looks good and fit our budget.   • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    Either hourly at $95 per hour or by the project. $95 for the first visit covers the initial consultation.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    It starts with the initial phone call to understand what the clients' needs are. Before our first design call I have the client pull any photos or images of styles that they like from magazines, Pinterest, blogs...etc. At the first appointment, we discuss the project in detail or in the case of a simple consultation, set the scope of the work. It is important that the client understands the fee structure, either by the hour or by the scope of the project, so there are no surprise and no stress. From that point forward, I am the clients advocate from a design standpoint. We lay out the time-lines and any budgetary constraints. Then, i go to work, using the extensive supplier resources I have been able to develop over the past two decades. My client is involved in every step of the way...

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    By owning my own store for 15 years I have attended many High Point Furniture Market design training seminars. I also took the most valuable classes at the Art Institute of Atlanta and was an Associate ASID member.
