Kids and teens have fun while learning to perform on stage and on camera! Understanding that teens and kids require a well-rounded acting program, yourACT has tailored its classes for kids and teens to demonstrate what it's truly like to work on-camera and on stage, plus give them a chance to experience the excitement of improvisation. All students learn the principles of acting in an energetic and supportive environment. Growing at their own speed, they explore the acting craft and art! The kids are distributed into groups by grades: 2nd through 4th, 5th and 6th, and 7th and 8th. Our two-hour Saturday lessons take the kids across three forty-minute sessions. They experience forty minutes of improvisation, then forty minutes of acting on camera on to the studio, and forty minutes to hone their stagecraft in our hundred-seat theatre. They learn to utilize focus, concentration, creativity and imagination to create strong and believable characters, whether on stage or in front of a camera. The teens (high school) discover how to become the character, being natural, truthful and honest. Whether on the stage or acting for TV and film, they gain discipline and focus. Improve provides them the power to unlock their emotions and explore their imagination. We select scripts that deal with the concerns and issues confronted by teens daily. The yourACT instructors are all skilled working actors who will help teens elude the usual mistakes and show them how to associate their dreams to reality. Every grade group is restricted to fourteen, so that all students get the individual attention which they deserve. We concentrate on building up their strengths, while noticing their individual needs.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Always audit a course to see if you like the instructor and their methods. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Don't spend more than is reasonable for classes. Talk to other actors in your community, as well as agents, to see what their experience has been and who they recommend. If a teacher demeans you in any way or acts like a "guru", don't hesitate to leave. Acting teachers should teach you to act - it's not a therapy session. And they should not play games with your psyche. Acting can be extremely challenging and fulfilling but you do need to be careful because you are opening up your mind and emotions and reactions can be volatile.
