Mr. Reed performed and excellent job. I would hire this company again.Jul 18, 2018Verified
Mr. Reed was very responsive to the request that I had, and he arrived to perform the work as scheduled. He and the other gentleman who helped him did a great job grading an area of my yard. And the price was reasonable.Mar 7, 2017Verified
David was very professional in the beginning. Asked the right questions and was very proactive. I was impressed. He was to demolish the home on the property and leave it seeded and strawed for final inspection per our contract. Once I hired David, I learned that he had issues with producing a fair quote as well as issues with project management. - David tried to change the payment terms of our contract as well as his price multiple times during the job. - He does not own his own equipment and struggled with project managing and coordinating dumpster services and equipment rental fees. - He said that the whole job would take 4-5 days and 3 weeks later, he was still at the site. Ultimately, he started the job and when we refused to provide more funds to complete the work, he left the work undone. The pictures attached are what he left behind. I cannot reconcile the work that I received with the comments left by others. Maybe this job was too big for him? I don't know, but this I do know... I cannot recommend his services to others, but I wish him luck... Update 10/21/2017: The work is now complete! I hired another contractor who charged me $2100 to complete the job; which was $100 more than the original quote received from David. David asked for an addition $2500 before abandoning the job. Demolition may not be an exact science, but I saved myself $2400 by using someone else to finish the job... Like I stated before... I cannot recommend his services to others.Oct 21, 2017VerifiedDavid R.'s reply
As I stated Demolition is not an exact science, I was unable to finish the job at price first stated. In this industry sometimes circumstances change and prices change, I was not trying to get over on Ms Christie, just trying to finish the contract.
I would highly recommend that anyone interested in hiring David proceed with caution or find another contractor altogether. His work is horrible and I am convinced that most of his reviews are fake. I hired him to install a covered retaining wall and level the land using the soil that he removed from the slope. However, I wish I would have waited or used another contractor. He installed the wall without using any type of backfill so it fell less than 12 hours later when it rained. After practically begging him to rebuild the wall after the failure of the first one, he spent about 6 hours rebuilding the second wall, which looks worst than the first. The current wall is leaning forward in several areas, the gravel is exposed, and the area around the wall looks like someone chewed/chopped up the landscape. He was supposed to trim back the landscape and recover the wall with additional soil, but refuses to do so. I filed a dispute with Thumbtack and he refuses to do anything about the mess that he built claiming that he has done the best that he can and I am complaining because I do not want to pay the $300 balance that is due to him. I stated that I am more than willing to pay him the balance, once he completes the job he was hired to do, but he refuses and is convinced that his messy work is complete. Review the attached pictures to see the type of work that you could potentially pay for.Jun 8, 2017VerifiedDavid R.'s reply
Ms. Fulton is one of those people that NO matter what you do you can not please her. I built her a wall twice and everyday as we were working she complained about something. Unlike she stated I and my spent almost 6 days trying to please her. I'm not going to bad mouth her on my review page but I will say she is one person that I regret ever being hired by. it's true that no matter how hard you try, you can not please everyone.
Mr. Reed was hired to extend a retaining wall using 11.5 in. x 7 in. x 4 in. Red Concrete Retaining Wall Block and to remove an existing concrete block wall and replace with Pressure treated landscape timbers, re-grade entire back yard and a portion of front yard, re-seed and straw all graded areas. The retaining walls look good and compared to quotes from other contractors was very economical, I would have liked to have seen the graded areas hand raked smoother and all of the surface rocks picked up before seeding and straw put down, however it was not specified in the contract I just assumed that it would have been and to be as fair and honest in this review I did not mention this concern to him because the straw was already down when I got home from work, He did quickly correct another concern that I pointed out before he left. overall for the money I was satisfied with the work done and would hire Mr. Reed again for future projects.Apr 1, 2017Verified
