Make sure that your contractor is not a one stop shop. Have your testing done by an independent contractor that you find and choose. Pay them directly not through the contractor. Make sure that your contractor has a hazardous materials rider on his insurance. A General Liability policy usually will not cover mold damages. The code of ethics and training that come with industry certifications are that one contractor should not identify the problem, prepare / perform the solution and then verify success.
