Everything about my experience working with Carena was *great*. Carena is super communicative (it's like she works East coast hours!). Her "pre photo shoot prep materials" (eg: location suggestions, how to get there, outfit tips, kid tips) sent via email were super helpful. Good photographers are usually not cheap because it costs *a lot* to live in Hawai'i, but Carena offered options that could fit our budget. Most of all, Carena is a warm, super friendly, and super patient - she is everything you'd want in a photographer for a beach photoshoot with a 1 year old. I cant recommend Carena enough! You have to book her! She brought a studio set up to my home to take professional quality photos, the lighting was amazing, her instruction on posing and faces was phenomenal and she got the photos back to me quickly even though there was was 2 holidays after our shoot. Amazing, so glad I booked her

Carena was fantastic! Decide to take our maternity photos while on our baby moon in Kauai. She helped us pick the location and helped us get there when we couldn’t find it. We had no idea what we were doing but she was great with explaining to us how to pose and where to put our hands and where to look. The hour flew by and we had a lot of fun. She is very knowledgeable of the island and gave us great recommendations for the rest of our trip. We saw sneak peak photos the same day and cannot wait to see the rest! What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is based on providing top-quality portraiture and editorial work for a range of clientele. Rates are based on the island of Kauai. However, I do travel inter-island for events and special sessions 2x/month. Traveling Inter-island for my clients is always an adventure and I am here for it!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Connecting with my clients via phone is my favorite way to get started! I get to know you, introduce myself and how I can make the process and flawless as possible. I inquire about any personal preferences, potential venue locations, and customization options. I also provide a list of island-wide locations to review, wardrobe reccomendations and an insider’s guide to Dining & Activities, so that you can have a seamless time with me and on island!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied Fine Art/Photography at University of Hawaii at Manoa, and worked in action sports and film media for many years. I have a lot of experience as a freelance artist in editorial print and fine art galleries.
