Stephen and his wife were great and helped us create some amazing couples photos! Did a great job coordinating with some big waves even. Such amazing quality they don’t even look real!Feb 12, 2018Verified
Steve and Cecily were wonderful! We had so much fun being photographed and the photos came out amazing. Steve does wonders with lighting and backgrounds, and he has an eye for making each photo look so much better than you'd ever expect. Thank you so much!Jul 28, 2015Verified
I really loved how simple and laid back it was, we booked it very last minute and were able to take photos the next day, and get them all that day, I love how they turned out, exactly what I wanted. We were able to get all our photos done within an hour without a lot of fuss, for a good price. I definitely recommend Stephen Fanning thank you!:)May 5, 2014Verified

Steve was very responsive and had great ideas of where to do our photo shoot. We will be in there in January and can't wait to see how our photos turn out!Oct 12, 2017

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Remember one thing. YOU END UP OWNING THE RIGHTS TO ALL THE HIGH RESOLUTION PHOTOS I TAKE AND TOUCH UP - WITH A PHOTO RELEASE. So, there is NO up-selling, meaning you get your first 25 images for x price but can spend $ for more, etc. I'd rather be out taking photos than negotiating with a client from two months ago trying to get them to buy more pictures of themselves. AND you will have your final images emailed to you through a link within 24-48 hours. Basically, budget is negotiable. You may need to spend less within reason, or you may want or need to expand your project and spend more. Obviously a photo shoot of a couple on the beach costs more than a 22 member family portrait session on Maui (which I've done). So the price depends on the shoot, though the price I've bid now is generally what clients eventually decide is best. I've done family/portrait projects from around $200 to $1500. More extensive jobs, especially with video, cost up to $5000+. My pricing is based for work on Oahu but I do many jobs on the other islands (which determines unique pricing.)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Communication is first and foremost. We want to know what you specifically want and when. I can offer other details regarding great locations, time of day to shoot, different poses, logistics, etc. As mentioned, I generally provide ALL the touched up photos to you (complete with a photo release) via an Internet link. If special editing is needed for your BEST PHOTO, like one you want to make a extra large print, I will provide special editing (skin tones, blemish removal, minor hair touch up, etc) for that one photo at no extra charge ($50 value) - or if you want me to provide printing, flash drives, or DVD's, for all your photos, I can provide it. Above all, we have fun! Any person's mood reflects in their expressions and body language. Plus, when you look back at the photos, we want you to remember it was a fun, pleasant experience.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I continue my education through the Internet and blogs. When a book finally comes out in print, technology has made it a history book. 90% of what I use and how I use it wasn't even invented when I graduated from Baylor University in 1981, where I majored in what they called "Radio, TV, Film." The bottom line is you ultimately have to know where and how to point the camera in both posed and candid photography. Composition, lighting, and timing determine a good photo from a great photo.... or video.
