FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most people will ask for a quote for a certain number of hours. Soundsations has a base price of four hours of playing time. That way, if your reception ends early (there are sometimes other factors such as weather, etc), you aren't locked into the entire price. Also, it makes your DJ work for the money. If they want to be paid for additional hours, they will make sure to keep the crowd engaged.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started out working as a DJ and producer for KGGO and X103 (now Lazer) in Des Moines, KKRQ FM101 in Iowa City, and then briefly as Program Director at KISS FM in Ottumwa. During my last two years while working in radio I decided to branch out into doing side work at receptions and events and I loved it!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Hire a DJ you feel comfortable talking to or communicating with. If the rapport isn't there, you may not feel comfortable with them during the reception.
