Introduction: I don't require commitments or cancellation notices. Sometimes the student needs help with just one or two assignments, not 30+ hours of tutoring (i.e. over a month). Sometimes scheduling conflicts will pop-up out of nowhere. You never know when your kid is going to get sick. By not requiring long-term commitments, or penalizing sudden cancellations, I can focus more on helping the students. The expression on a child's face when they "get it," is priceless. When a child starts reciting mnemonics as he/she applies them to the assignment, leaving me just sitting there watching, makes me proud.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I subscribe to a newsletter about Learning Disabilities, and I take Continuing Ed courses on Special Education towards maintaining my Teaching Credential.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
After having a great time as a teacher spoiled by the Great Recession, I turned to tutoring to fill in the gaps. It provided a source of income in the field that I had been most successful, while searching for a more permanent employer.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Most of my clients require "homework help." The parents are particularly busy, or uncomfortable with the subject matter themselves, and the student needs assistance in understanding the material.
