Introduction: I write my own arrangements, over 4000, of popular songs. I have roughly 20 levels of 200 unique titles, so no matter what level you are at , I can teach you how to play songs quickly. I also write " one handed " arrangements that sound as full as if you were playing with the use of both hands ! I currently teach students in Hong Kong, Norway, England, Australia,Kazakhstan, Canada and USA ! I studied with 2 of the best jazz teachers in the USA: Alan Swain and Tony Caramia. I've been featured on BBC Radio England, ABC Radio Australia, WCBS Radio New York, WBEZ Radio Chicago as well as TV appearances in Philadelphia, Chicago, Cleveland and England. With my systematic approach to " Conceptual" Teaching, you will be playing songs from day one ! Showing students how to use chords / harmonies creatively in popular songs. I particularly like teaching concepts that allow my students the joy of playing life long. There is no reason why you should not be able to play piano lifelong if you are taught a dozen or so theory concepts.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes, I charge $90 an hour , with a minimum of 2 hours of lessons per month. ( Most adults take and hour every other week ). I typically get paid the first week of the month for the upcoming month. I accept Credit Cards but prefer a personal check.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to find out what type of music they like to play and then I evaluate what they already know and if they can read music. Based on the particular students level, I may have them start by playing lead sheets with basic Triads, or if they are advanced, I may start them playing Rootless chord Voicings .
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree in Music Theory / Composition from U of I Champaign/ Urbana. I spent 6 months on Grand Cayman Island with a band in 1982 - 1983. I studied with Alan Swain and Tony Caramia. I've performed all over Chicagoland as well As Door County , Wi and Arkansas.
