- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For wedding services and planning, I typically charge 15 percent of the entire event budget. If I am doing make-up, hairstyling, Henna, or face-painting, I always charge a fixed amount for an individual job, but I charge much less (about half of what I would charge per person otherwise) for the job. For the discounted pricing, I usually want 5+ clients in the one meeting.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It has always been a passion. I started this business of creative services right from my mother's international clothing and apparel store. She used to sell wedding dresses and jewelry, and I would get to know the people and do their make-up, hair, and henna. My clients were so impressed, thankfully, that they asked me to provide these services in many more events to come. They inspired me to create this business of my own! I am currently in college, working at a non-profit, and also doing this work as I love creative work. Not to mention, a large portion of my income goes toward non-profit causes toward children in my country, Bangladesh.
