I wished I could give 0 star. This company scammed me for $1,400 which was supposed to be for concrete resurfacing with solid white color.
- During estimate, a guy calling himself Max showed up claiming he has recently done a similar job, have all the materials ready and can come tomorrow if we agree.
- I had recently done a patching repair on stoop of my front entrance and patch was pretty visible. My ask was to do resurfacing of whole stoop so that it can have the same look. Max also offered similar resurfacing on side-walk. We signed a contract for that (picture attached).
- Next day, Max showed up with his co-worker. They did not clean or prep the surface much. They poured resurfacing mix on a painting tray and light-brushed using concrete broom. I thought they are simply applying bonding agent or something first before resurfacing but got surprised when they called me outside and told me work is done. Total time was 32 minutes.
- I brought up concerns about this is not what I expected and showed them few videos of how others have done resurfacing pouring over the liquid, apply it with a squeeze and use broom for texture. Plus, patch is still visible. Max kept claiming himself as concrete expert, rushed me for payment and left saying "you have 5 year warranty, if any problem then I can come back".
- During estimate, he told me 2 hours dry time. After work, he started saying give it 24 hours to dry and everything will be solid white. Later that day, I texted with pictures telling him patch is definitely not turning white and still visible. He blamed it on my patch being thick. Next day, it rained (light rain) and had to wait another day as per his suggestion but same thing. When texted again with pictures, he started claiming it looks 10 times better than before (contract was to make it all solid white). Picture attached where only difference is whole stoop being bit lighter due to brushing over material.
- Reviewing my door camera, it appeared him and his co-worker were literally walking over applied area and Max even dragged around his paint tray while applying extra liquid over patch by hand (picture attached). Where as, I was told no foot traffic for 8 hours.
- Due to all inconsistent statements, not showing any concern over my dis-satisfaction and lying about coming back, I requested refund. Then he stopped responding (5 year warranty also went out of the window). No attempt to fix or anything.
Looking back, whole business was done over bad faith and fake promises. He literally tricked me by using left over stuff from his previous job. Thumbtack should be getting rid of this company to protect customers.
