Introduction: I opened this private practice to better serve my clients and protect them from the easy legal pitfalls that can affect anyone in this heavily litigated society. While working as an attorney at several prominent law firms and in house at a private equity fund, I grew my practice in corporate transactions, commercial litigation, and employment matters. While I continue to handle these matters, the scope of my practice has widened considerably. In addition to commercial and employment matters, I now handle real estate disputes, criminal defense, entertainment law, and family law. By way of background, I grew up in Charleston, Illinois. My dad was a Division I baseball coach for 22 years at Eastern Illinois University, and my mom was a director and professor in the business college. I graduated from Charleston High School and then attended Indiana State University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance and Bachelor’s of Arts in Language Studies with a Spanish and French focus. After graduating from ISU, I then attended the University of Illinois College of Law, earning my law degree in 2014. After law school, I started my career in Chicago working for a big law firm on multi-billion dollar corporate M&A and finance transactions and general corporate formation. I received invaluable education on the formation of a company, general corporate governance, and transactional and regulatory issues affecting companies from startups to large market cap companies. I then accepted an in-house counsel position operating as the assistant general counsel for a rapidly expanding litigation finance startup. During my time working there, I focused on general corporate matters, corporate acquisitions, and compliance issues. I also assisted the general counsel during an acquisition of the company by its larger competitor and spearheaded the transition of the legal department after the closing of that transaction. After going through the acquisition, I ultimately determined that my career would be best served back at a law firm. I went to work for a successful Chicago-based trial boutique firm focusing my practice on commercial and employment matters. I also expanded my practice into real estate, entertainment, criminal, and family law matters. In addition to my professional activities, I am an active member of the following legal organizations: American Bar Association Illinois State Bar Association Women’s Bar Association Chicago Bar Association Illinois Trial Lawyers Association I am also an adjunct professor in the MBA program at Benedictine University. I speak at a conversational level in Spanish and French.

Abigail has assisted me with numerous legal issues and she always provides insight and creative solutions. She has an in-depth knowledge of the law and potential outcomes, but also applies a realistic approach to likely outcomes and suggestions for next steps. She is very expeditious and hands-on with her counsel and support. Abigail would be an asset to any person or company's legal team.

When it comes to legal advice, Abigail is the one you want in your corner. She is incredibly intelligent, professional, and more than capable of handling any legal scenario you throw at her. Her attention to detail will ensure that all legal needs you have are met with a knowledgeable, attentive, and meticulous approach. Abigail’s empathy knows no bounds, when it comes to her clients. When you first meet her, you will not feel as if you have shaken hands with a pit viper looking for the quickest approach to the first offer on the table. She is friendly and kind with a hometown friendliness not easily found in the city. However, when it comes to negotiating on your behalf, Abigail is quick witted and as sharp as they come. Her mental gymnastics can make even the most arrogant of men take a seat. She has run circles around a medical director who looked her up and down while shaking hands and scoffed. I can tell you, he very promptly regretted underestimating her strength and ability. When you hire Abigail, she takes a personal interest in the job at hand. She fights for you. You will not be disappointed.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My pricing is flexible and project/case dependent. I am happy to work with clients to find the right pricing structure for any matter.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I offer a free 30 minute consultation with any new client to discuss their matter and decide whether I am a good fit. If I am a good fit, then we discuss a reasonable pricing structure and execute an engagement agreement prior to me working on the matter. If we decide that I am not a good fit, I have a huge network of lawyers in the Chicagoland area that I am happy to refer you to.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I received my bachelor's degree in finance and language studies from Indiana State University in 2011 and my J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2014. I have worked at big and midsize law firms and as in-house counsel for private equity funds giving me a wide range of experience.
