I'm an artist before I'm a photographer. I'm visually driven so my work appears to have a contemporary and journalistic approach. Capturing the special moments with emotion and edge are some of the things that make my work unique. I feel privileged to be able to see another human being make another human being cry out of pure love, it's one of the more magical things I get to witness. A front row seat to some of the most vulnerable moments between two people who are madly in love. I love my job.

I was beyond impressed with the expertise JoAnna brought to the table. She shot my wedding in October and she was able to capture every aspect of my day from start to finish. We had a gloomy, cold day however JoAnna managed to capture the most gorgoues shots and the end results were outstanding. It was amazing how fast she was too, even the wedding party was impressed. She wasn't afraid to keep us moving to get the best possible angles and backgrounds. At one point we thought she was going to jump in the pond to get what she wanted! I wouldn't put it past her. I didn't have to worry about getting that perfect one as I knew she would handle everything. It was one less thing I had to worry about. My images came back to me so quickly it blew me away. I also received a few teezers the day after the wedding. I would highly recommend J. Castaneda Photography and I will definately use her again. Thank you JoAnna for making my day even more special than it already was. Thanks to you I have it all documented and will look back on it knowing it was perfect!

OUTSTANDING Experience and Photographer. My thought for my wedding was not only who can capture our special day perfectly but who do I want by my side for all of those important moments, after all your photographer is who you spend the majority of your wedding day with. My husband and I were blessed to have Joanna as our engagement and wedding photographer. She is an exceptional photographer that created beautiful memories for us to cherish for years to come. Throughout our interactions planning for both our engagement and wedding photos, Joanna was always professional, quick to answer my emails and always addressed any concerns I had. Her work is truly art! =Pros: strong communication skills, always on time, organized, wore appropriate professional attire on wedding day, unique photos that captured the emotions of the moment, QUICK turnaround time (I received our edited engagement photos one week after the shoot and our edited wedding photos within two weeks) =Cons: honestly, there were no cons to working with Joanna =The actual email I sent to Joanna after receiving our engagement photos: "I am in tears! I've worked with Joanna previously in her career as a graphic designer in the beauty & fashion industry , so I knew she would have an incredible eye and the discipline and reliability we were looking for. When it came time to choose a wedding photographer, there was no question. Joanna is an incredibly talented and an artistically unique photographer. Our engagement photos were awesome (we froze our butts off but it was absolutely worth it!) and our wedding photos were even better. Many friends and family couldn't even believe how incredible our photos turned out. The outcome made us look and feel like we had a celebrity wedding in Chicago. If you are looking for unique and creative photos that will last a lifetime, Joanna is your gal! Our photos were edited, we had a link to a slideshow and full files within a week, impressive! She is a true professional who is passionate about what she does and really takes the time to get to know you, make you feel comfortable and express your true personalities through her lens.

We worked with JoAnna for our son's 1 year photo shoot. The entire experience from start to finish was top notch. JoAnna was a pleasure to work with, had great patience while shooting and the finished product not only met, but exceeded our expectations. We will be sure to use JoAnna again for all our family portrait needs.
