Alyssa was fantastic. She was very responsive throughout the whole process and she played great! I will definitely hire her again.Dec 25, 2019Verified
I needed to reschedule my trial lesson, but the teacher asked for another $30 after I already paid $40. I understand why a teacher might not give refunds for a cancellation but not for a reschedule. Also, giving notice that they money is non refundable is standard practice.Dec 31, 2019VerifiedAlyssa Conde's reply
Hi Erin, I request $40 for every trial lesson in order to book a time slot. You cancelled the same day as your lesson, and I require at least a 48 hour notice in order to reschedule. Due to a same day cancellation, I had to charge you for a new time slot (This is explained in my profile as well). I unfortunately can not afford to offer free lessons, all of my students pay for each lesson, as this is my livelihood. I gladly will reschedule for emergencies, and when I receive enough notice. It is unfortunate that this did not work out, I hope you find the music education you’re looking for. Best, Alyssa
Alyssa is a great piano teacher. She is professional, kind and very patient. I learned many things from her lessons and didn't feel stressful at all. When I have questions she always answers them very well. Unfortunately I could not continue having lessons with her due to the long commute distance. I feel really grateful for her recommendations about the future study materials that suit my level. Oh and it is also great fun to perform at the recital! Thank you Alyssa!Oct 6, 2018Verified

She’s an amazingly patient and lovely person.. takes so much trouble to help me (a total novice to the piano) learn and understand.. I love my classes with her, and look forward to them each week!Nov 18, 2017Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I like to offer trial lessons before students decide to sign up. Trial lessons are $40. And cancellations require a 48 hour notice. Once the student has had their first lesson, they can decide whether or not they would like to move forward and discuss the monthly cost. For collaborative costs I charge hourly for rehearsals and a separate fee for auditions or concerts.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? This all depends on the level of the student. The process for a beginner versus the process for an experienced pianist will be very different. Even two students at the same level I cannot treat the same. As we work together and get to know one another I strive to find the best tools and methods for the individual.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?My education is in Piano Performance. Through my Bachelors, Masters and Professional Diploma I was educated in mostly solo performance, but also vocal and instrumental collaboration, and piano pedagogy. Through my training I learned how to find the best tools, materials, and how to use my words in the explanation of music. But what trained me more than anything is action. Ive worked with vocalists and instrumentalists over the past decade and began teaching at age 17. Since then my students and colleagues have taught me immensely! Im so grateful to every single person I've had the opportunity to work with. They make me a better teacher and musician. Education is lifelong.
