I spent over 3 years with Erika Cockerham, I believe. Her never failing guidance and encouragement has continued to be a light in my life, even though I no longer take from her. Not only is she a beautiful example of a mentor, but she's very well-versed in her craft. Erika served as an inspiration for me from day one in her studio. It is because of her that I can truly say my love for music grew and strengthened. Erika didn't just enstill music skills in me; she instilled faith and the importance of preserverance. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for music lessons of any kind, you will not regret spending time with her contagious joy and constant love.

Katrina Reece worked for me at The Casino Queen and a few other shows in the St. Louis area as a Background Singer and Female Lead Vocal in my band" The Fury". She is such a dream to work with! Her vocal talents and experience as a lead vocal and background singer are beyond amazing! Katrina is completely competent, professional and is an asset to any musical project or event! Not only did we sound great, but her fashion sense and style for the stage was flawless. She has a really good work ethic and is willing to go the extra mile like helping out with any behind the scene administrative help needed. I wish I had ten more like her!

It was great to work with Vinnie Hanes. It was easy to reach out to him, and he always got back with answers quickly. For our event he did a great performance. He is an amazing artist. It was fun watching him perform, and see how he interacted with his audience. He also took part of a open mic session where others could come and sing with him, while he played guitar! I will highly recommend Vinnie to others! He is great.

LaShanda has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. I simply adore the way she sings. Her voice moves you to tears with the sheer beauty of it. Her vibrant personality and deep love of Christ is evident in all of her daily activity and interactions. If you desire a deeply moving service or reception, LaShanda is the woman for the job. She is a pure joy to work with and I count myself blessed to know her and doubly blessed to have been present during one of her performances.

Tish brought tears to my eyes at the altar! I was referred to Tish by a friend as I was planning my wedding; considering that my husband and I are both from Detroit and had only recently relocated to St Louis, we didn't have a clue where to look. I was however, very particular about some unique song selections that I had seen performed on YouTube and desperately needed a 5-piece band with two singers to create. After reaching out to Tish, she made me instantly comfortable. She understood my vision and put together a group of musicians that were extremely professional and prepared. Tish offered excellent suggestions for song selections during my service and attended two meetings at the church with me to get the layout and meet the coordinator. She stayed in regular communication with me for almost a year, bouncing off great ideas and keeping me calm. When my big day came and all of our guests from Detroit arrived to our ceremony, Tish literally brought the roof down. Her rendition of Total Praise was so stirring that there were whoops and shouting among our guests. Tish sings with so much power and beauty. EVERYONE was talking about her at the reception and I've had friends out of state ask if they can fly her in for special occasions. Her voice is an absolute blessing to behold and she has the heart and professionalism to match. I can't adequately express my happiness and gratitude for having had Tish take part in our wedding ceremony. When we watch the video now and share with family, everyone asks to rewind her solos a few times before we move on!

          What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

          • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
          • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
          • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.
